Rb25 Camshaft Question

Hey all,

I was just wondering what the bulges out of the rocker cover on my rb25 where for so i took the rocker cover off and had a look at the cams and there are these rectangle things covering the cams... I first though vvt but r33's only have it on the inlet side AFAIK so anybody know?

Those are called oil baffle plates. They basically help to prevent oil from entering the ventilation system. Oil that is splashed up from the camshaft turning at high rpm.
