yea but dude. it is sometimes hard to drive around all day in a fast car with out at least once wanting to wind out one gear.

i just say keep your eyes peeled

your car should be enjoyable to drive at any speed,40 or 110kmh so why the need to go faster ?

Jez

In my experience most of the speed camera operators tuck the sign around the end of the van so you don't see it until you're going past it - in which case it'd be too late to do anything anyway. So in my opinion makes little difference whether the van is marked/unmarked sign/no sign, if you see a late model van on the side of a nice straight bit of road with no other cars parked near it, always assume the worst.

You don't need to be constantly looking at your speedo to know whether or not you are doing the speed limit. If your driving significantly faster than everyone else then clearly your speeding. You SHOULD notice if your car is going faster in than the speed limit anyway since doing 10km/hr over is rather significant enough to realise your car feels faster than usual.

The only time i don't do the speed limit is when i'm over taking. If i'm on the highway and theres some retard doing 80km/hr the whole time and theres currently a gap that'll require me going up to 120km/hr or so to get in front of him then i'll do that. So it'd suck if i got caught when over-taking but i guess thats just life.

Agreed,

I see Dark Green Merc Vito vans up and down Mt Lindsay Hwy/Beaudesert Rd without fail at least once a week, and sure enough there is a tiny sign about 400x500mm tucked away in front of the van where you can only see it if you're looking for it, or driving in the opposite direction, and to top it off, you can barely see the "police" lettering on the sides fo the van due to the dark colour.

Furthermore, i saw a nice officer who had parked down a side street, maybe 50m down, and walked up to the intersection, standing behind a sign with his trusty camera out.

Essentially, if they want to slow people down, hiding and using unmarked vehicles isn't going to change anything since no one knows they're there.

It's been said 100 times, their goal is clearly not safety, but revenue raising.

Well im from bundy i travel a few K's too and from work every day and i did notice a champaign 4x4 on the side of the road didnt pay much attention to it because usally their all marked..

when i drove back past from lunch it was still there and noticed there was someone sitting in the back seat, looked alittle harder and yep sure enough it was a cop!

i thought to myself shit hes going to get a few people, the road he was sitting on is bad for speeding..

so its not just brisbane that these new unmarked cars are!

what's the difference if they're unmarked... the signs the cops the put up are small and you barely notice them as it is and the police signage is usually only on the side of the vehicle where you won't see it.

I cringe at the sight of any newish 4wd wagon on the side of the road. A lot of time it's just some jackoff who bought a huge 4wd and can't park in a regular car park so it's limited to the side of the road or the footpath.

i got pulled over for RBT in beenleigh.

^

^ thats true

last sat nite i was driving down beaudesert road with my gf and a mate in the car. i was doing spot on 80km/h as per the speed limit at about 10pm and i passed 1 of those aurion patrol cars (he was turning right at a set of lights - mine were green and his were red).

it must have been a slow night or perhaps his quota for the evening had not been met - i do not know, but as i passed him he saw "skyline" on the back of my car and decided to make an illegal left hand turn so he could chase me down for a quote "random licence and breathlyzer check"

cop: have you been drinking 2nite?

me: no

cop: blow into this

me: k

cop: (blew 0.0) thats ok then

cop: while im here, open the hood

me: (thinking f**k!) ok

cop: (while looking directly at the stock standard turbo) is this car turboed?

me: (slight grin on my face) yeh it is. it came standard from nissan like that

cop: (keeps looking around) does this car have a blow off valve?

me: (still with a slight grin on my face) uhhh yeh...

cop: k... giv it a rev

me: how much of a rev, a little bit or really boot it?

cop: yeh really rev it

me: (reved it to 5.5k) k

cop: do it again

me: (again reved it to 5.5k) ok

cop: (has a bit more of a look) hold on a minute, let me check your ride height...

me: ok then

cop: (wonders round the back of the car and checks it then comes back me) ok it all seems good... have a good night

me: k THANKS!

i dont think he was interested in MY car - well he was, just not for the reasons u had Jezboosted... lol

so yeh... random breath test my ass!

Get a 50cc scooter! Yamaha Aerox are the Go! Brembo's and all!

Can hold it Flat, All day, Every day!

Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.
    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
