4 sides to the relay

- 1 side will be power in (from battery)

- opposite that will be power out (to pump)

- 1 side will be relay ground

- 1 side will be the trigger (from ecu)

turn the relay upside down and you'll see some numbers:

30 - Power in

87 - power out

85 - trigger

86 - ground

ok, so are you asking if u can cut the other 2 wires to/from the relay? caus if so u cant as u need all 4 wires to run the relay/pump

u probably know this but:

the trigger wire from the std loom tells the relay when to open/close the circuit. when the relay see's power from that trigger, it closes the circuit and u get power through the relay. if u dont have power in, then u wont have power out. if u also dont have the relay ground connected, the circuit will be open and u wont get power out.

No I can see the relay's wires, these are two other wires from the pump - I don't know where they go (into the unknown of the loom). The relay has been put in to bypass the the standard variable ground pump controller which is electronic rather than a relay. It died.

The thing is that since the relay was put in, the car wont turn off, I believe because there is a voltage feeding back somehow, hence I am asking if I can cut these other two wires to the pump (it already has a power and an earth) to see if this fixes the problem.

Ok turns out they are the fuel gauge sender wires. ;)

i was gonna say that, but then u said they were keeping it running so i was confused :P

Scrap the relay and just make a new ground straight from the fuel pump to the chassis. This will bypass the variable ground pump controller..

thats not really going to work, because if u have the power coming from the battery (direct wired, which u should to get the best voltage possible) the pump will be on all the time

Alot of people do it to fix fuel problems. I have done it to mine too and the fuel pump still turns off and works fine.
