Just exactly where is (are) the igniter(s) in a Stagea?

At a recent cruise I noticed what appeared to be an igniter attached to the back of the spark plug/coil pack cover in some of the cars. Not sure if the were S1 or S2. Now I have an S1 and, the place where I have seen an igniter fixed on others, there are just some tapped holes. Following the

harness back does not lead me to an igniter. Is it correct to assume that my coil packs have igniters fitted? Do S1 come with a separate igniter or coil pack fitted. :D:P

S2 Igniters are built in to the coil pack. As far as I know, the S1 has a seperate igniter.

Not my S1...(which is a '96)

I thought that only the RB20's has a separate igniter pack, and all '25's had it as part of the coil.

Maybe I should FAST it...

Confusingly RB33 engines come in series 1 (with seperate igniters) and series 2 (without). I think all Stageas have either Series 2 engines (for Series I Stageas) or neo (for Series II Stageas) although tofurther complicate it late n/a series I Stageas have the (non turbo) neo engines.

I reckon that this explains it - my parents have a '93 R33 GTS25T. I'll get them to have a look.

*edit*

Yup, their '33 has an igniter pack, It might be worth checking the engine number on any Stag's you see with one. I would expect that some left over engine stock might have crept in the assembly line, but it's a bit of an 'if'.

y did you go looking for it anyway ? did you think your spark plugs were not going? do you even know what it does?

I was not really looking for mine, it was just that I saw one on a Stag.

The trouble I had, twice, was on a Suckeroo. And it seriously caused a lot of Effin trouble. Dealer price for one was $648. I was lucky, both times got one from wreckers for $100. On both occasions the misfiring caused break down of plug leads. Nice one $45 each.

I am well aware what an igniter does. And I also know they dont like water getting to them.

So now we know that, ostensibly, all Stags should have igniters in the coil packs. BUT
