Hey Guys,

Well firstly, I noticed my Oil temp gauge yesterday go higher than normal and then today I drove the car for 5 mintues and my upper radiator hose burst and spilt coolant all over the place. Replaced hose with a new one and replaced 5ltrs of coolant. Drove car again for about 10min and there was hissing from the engine bay again and noticed that all the coolant had begun pissing out again, this time it seems from a hose near the back of the engine??

Is this a radiator issue, thermostat issue, head gasket:( or something else??

Can anyone help?

Appreciate it

JG

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if your continually bursting pipes, that sounds like a head gasket
More like "worn out hoses" - they're nearly 20 years old, after all. And the Japs are notorious for not using coolant, then the hoses rot from the inside.
Im pretty sure it was the drivers side. Thanks for all your help so far guys, I have a mechanic friend coming over later to have a look, but hopefully it is just another hose:)

Give us a write up on how you went. I had exact same problem with mine this week whilst away on holidays. Its up the north coast at a shop this week getting repaired. I had the same problem 6 months ago. Got it repaired at the local mechanic, $220 worth of labour, $2.50 for the part. When he had finished and handing me back the keys, he said there are a few other hoses down there a bit worse for wear. The idiot didnt replace (or at least ring me to ask to replace) them, and now i have to pay for all the labour to get to the same spot again. So replace any hoses that look mildly worn down there to save $'s or work for your mates in the near future.

Seems like a hose has gone as the most likely answer, taking it to Ray at RE Customs tomorrow to get sorted but if its one of those pain in the ass hoses, they will all be replaced.

Will fill you guys in tomoorw.

Cheers

Ok, it looks like a Head gasket, its getting towed to Creatd Motorsports for a final inspection and confirmation of the shitty head.

It might be a good time to do a few other bits and pieces, turbos and computer and shoot for a comfortable and reliable 300awkw:)

What do you think??

If you've got the cash yes.

Put a tomie oil restrictor in at least (do this even if you just replace the head gasket). Are you gonna pull the engine right out? If you do you should put a crank coller on the oil pump drive, N1 oil pump (at the minimum) and baffle the sump. An oil return from the head to the sump would be a good investment too. Is the car just a streeter or do you plan on doing track day stuff in it as well?

Thanks Jazzy, its just a streeter and they boys dont think they will have to pull the engine out, so we will wait and see tomorrow.

I will figure out $$$$ and see what I can do.

Cheers

Update. Head Gasket has shat itself and Im going to do steel head gasket, injectors, rods, turbos, PFC, front pipes, clutch and shoot for anywhere between 300-340AWKW.

Will have it back next week and will post a new thread with Pics for everyone to have a squiz at and tell me what they think.

Cheers.

Haha i now own this car and guess what?? A coolant line at the back of the engine has burst again! If i wasn't buying a house i would get the head taken off, do the oiling mods, get EVERY hose replaced so its a little more safe.. Anyone with an R32 should be weary that its about time that the hoses will start to fail, so have a spare $1000 to replace them :(

Rods? That's a mistake right? If you going to 340 you dont need them, and if you're changing rods that means engine out and you might as well be doing a full rebuild....

I don't think he went ahead with rods, i have no paperwork to say it ever had after market rods installed. Im going to buy a full silicone hose set and get them all replaced. One day a rebuild will come, but i will be aiming for maximum reliability not maximum power :D
