New Car Purchase Nightmare!

Hi all,

Well as most of the regulars here would be aware, Chefstagea (adam) and myself were flying to sydney on Monday morning (yes Aus. day), to pick up the S2 260RS he's interested in.

So far he's:

• Paid a deposit
  
• Paid insurance (got it sorted prior so we were covered on the drive home)
  
• Paid for 2 one way air faires to sydney
  
• Purchased some bits and peices incase dramas mechanically occured on the way back (hoses belts ect.. ect..)
  
• Put his current car back to stock for sale and pretty much have a buyer lined up for purchase this week when we get back
  
• We'be both organised time off work aswell.
  

As hes a cheff and its sat night hes at work... AND GETS THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE AROUND 9pm:

"Hi Adam sorry it's late, had some bad news this weekend I will be flying out of the country tomorrow night I have to put off the car for the forseeable future. I will refund any costs you have incurred for flights and your deposit. I will only be able to access email from tomorrow as phone wont work over there, send me your bank details. Please acept my apology I cant say much more than that right now.

What shall we do? Is their anything we can? Dudes not answering calls or anything.

Wow, that sucks! I'm not sure anything can be done about this, were there any documents signed between Adam and the owner?

I'd be getting in touch with Pete (SLED) He seems to know his way around the law but from how I see it, you're out of luck

sorry to hear, but unforeseeable circumstances to come up from time to time @ least he is willing reimburse money for airfares should get refund then go to sydney anyways and then get a mystery flight you never know might get one to adelaide

i would be careful, he seemed very quick to ask for your bank detail, i could be wrong but i would be cautious with doing that, lol i always think worst thing first. Maybe make sure there is little as possible money in there before giving him details just incase.

On the other hand, he could just be a good bloke who feels bad for putting you out, hopefully that is the case.

hey all... just got home... thanx for all your help guys! we got fairly well f**ked around with the sydney dude... but the briss one worked out well! its currently in transport n should be here soon enough...

The sydney guy sent me $1100 to my bank, this was for the insurance polocy witch i swaped over to this new one that i got, the 200 deposit and the flights... funny enough we swaped the flights for return ones to brisbane, all up $550 freight, 120 accom, and about 1000 of flights, so worked out well in the end i spose!

the new one will be here shortly! also thanx to the nsw guys for firing him up for me

Glad to hear it all went well Adam! How long till you get the car into Adelaide? When i brought the gtr from syd they reckoned 7days anywhere in aust, that said it was too low and i was too impatient so i just drove! Either way make sure to drop around when you get it, you can check out the dent free gtr while your at it too

Hope you had better luck than me. When AutoTrans got my silver Stagea to Adelaide, one of the employees decided to be a hoon and side swiped a bollard/gate damaging the rear door and wheel arch.

Got repair quotes to them averaging $2400. Negotiated my mate doing the work for $1800, and the arseholes still only paid $1600. And it took them months to get the approval for repairs. $200 odd came out of my own pocket for them to f**k up my car!
