i dont know if any workshop speciallises in HICAS

but i would say that most good import workshops like boost worx and graham west workshops

would know what they are doing and should be able to help you out there mate

Hi Guys...

My GTR has got some interesting HICAS issues and im looking for a workshop that has experience troubleshooting these problems. Can anyone suggest a place? Please only make a suggestion if you know they have experience with HICAS specifically.

Boostworx can get the diag codes out for u for $50 or so - where it leads u from there is another matter... I too have hicas issues and must be alone when I say i really like it and dont want a lock bar

Thanks for the reply, not really looking for a specialist, i doubt there would even be such a person :D (although with the number of skylines with hicas problems may be there should be LOL) ... just someone who knows their way around the hicas.

Better for racing so the rear end is predictable around all conditions - its better for street driving and people who admittedly aren't highly skilled (such as myself). PM me the details of whats happening with your HICAS and I might be able to point you in the right direction. I've managed to solve 2 minor hicas issues before but this current one I believe is related to a faulty steering angle sensor (or boss kit) but I won't know for sure till I get the diag codes out (and I just havent got the time at the moment to head to boostworx)

A lock bar isn't a bandaid fix it simply replaced a badly engineered bit of Nissan bandaid fix.

Do you have the GT-R workshop manual? There is an exhaustive section on diagnosing HICAS issues. Start by reading the error light on the HICAS computer.....

Hicas lock bar will fail Regency... and then you'll need to install it back on and have it engineered.

Boostworx will pull the codes off it, but they get someone in a little van to come around to do it, as Shaun doesn't have the equipment on site.

There's no real Hicas-savvy workshop, but there'd be plenty of mobile auto electricians with the diagnostic tool that simply plugs in to pull the codes off...

If it's going crazy, jack up the car, make sure all 4 wheels are off the ground, turn on the car, and the hicas computer will reset itself. It's designed to do this when it senses that no wheels are touching the ground.

I am pretty sure that graham west workshops have that little diagnostics tool

plug it in and it will search and find out your codes

If you search this site you may find a procedure for getting the codes, I know you can for the R33, not sure if the 32 is different.

Ive got the manual and the procedures from it... i just cant get through the crazy setup instructions to put it into diag mode... and even if i had the codes, i dont have the skills/knowledge to replace what would need replacing/fixing :) <-- mechano tard. :P

It won't work on an R34 because they used a different type of ODB connector.

I did order one but the vendor in australia is that bad at communication it might just be worth me buying it from overseas. And I haven't found a place that does the diags yet. I called Graham West this arvo but haven't heard back from them yet as they were busy and their receptionist took a message...

Its not a huge priority atm but I >will< buy the conzult package after I get my idle issues sorted... I very much want my hicas to work.

I had my standard rear steering rack locked up with washers and had the parts for the hicas removed from my power steering pump, so it all looks standard and passed regency, but its fully locked :)

Are you talking about the consult device reffered to in the workshop manual? That piece of equipment looks very very useful... how much does one cost by the way?
