Heat And Your Turbo Ride?

Both are doing fine. Too scared to run the air-con in the Pulsar until I can properly monitor my temps (ie. when I get the Defi's installed) as there's so many cooling devices in my engine bay...and stuff all room for heat to escape. There's a massive truck sized FMIC, radiator, stock oil heat exchanger, air-con condenser and two transmission coolers all in the one spot (not the mention the bigger turbo sits close to my radiator)...and the engine was never designed to be in such a small bay in the first place. Poor car The Skyline is obviously running a bit hotter than normal, but perfectly normal temps. Plus I can run the air-con in it all day and not worry, it's a fairly stock car. It's nice to have a stockish daily to pot around in, air-con ftw.

i have an r34 and with the 3 gauges the one in the middle which is oil temp. does anyone know at what point should i worry mine was up nearly half way on the gauge and i dont know what temp that is because there is only numbers on the bottom and top which is stupid. so im hoping mine is normal.

Mine's about the same if I get stuck in traffic for a while with the air-con on in this heat. I couldn't work out what temp it was, then I realised half way between 70'C and 150'C is about 110'C, which is fine. It's not going to hurt anything. If you see your stock water temp gauge move from it's normal position - then worry. They stay in the normal spot between certain heat ranges, if it moves it outside of normal.

Mine was fine today with full blast aircon all the way to my gf house in Wheelers hill no prob...Oil temp sit little higher then normal....where water temp seems to be normal....

PS...My car is stock auto with the oil cooler....

My mate had to fill up on 91ron yesterday because apparently in the heat the petrol pumps can't accurately measure the amount of fuel flowing through the pump on higher ron fuel in high temperatures. That's what the dude in the store said anyway. He was out in woop woop so he didn't have much choice.

Nothing more sluggish than an Evo on 91ron in the heat.

just had to take a 15min trip in the GTR... water temp went from 60º to 93º in about 10 minutes lol... stabilized at 93º tho... and that's with no air con on and keeping completely off boost!

oil temp = 95 deg

water temp = 100 deg

had to stop the aircon, lower the windows and turn up the heater to bring the water temp back down to 90 deg

was not a good drive home

nah not for a car with big cams that idles around 1000rpm... really thick FMIC and alloy radiator don't help either, it needs plenty of airflow so putting around in traffic doesn't help

when you see 110º+ water temp its time to worry... what temp does coolant boil at, anyone know?

now an Evo tuned to run 98 running 91 on a 40º day, that sounds unhealthy lol

No probs here, for me or the car (I love the heat).

House was 30.5 last night & I slept like a baby. Not so much the wife though.

Only time I have had the air-con on in the car is when I have both dogs, then it is on flat out at 18.5 degrees.

my car is my daily driver, air-con on full no probs at 10:20am my MFD says intake temp 43degrees. so i don't rev over 4000rpm. don't wanna push it on days like yesterday and today.

Big fat cooler, big fat radiator, big fat oil cooler.

Plus in the heat is the only time my AFM doesn't max out.

I drove mine the other day when it was like 40degrees and knock on the power fc reached a max of 170 but it was sort of holding it. Not just 1 single spike like normal. And it was when i was in a high gear pushing up a hill but not on boost at all... Hoping its just a coincidence that somethings come loose in the engine bay and is vibrating on the chassis or something. I thought constant knock levels of 100 or so can blow up an engine so does that mean 170 over and over is definately not knock?

I do notice that somehow the R34 GTR's have very good cooling.

I took Tim GTR's R34 GTR out on night and gave it abit of stick and I check the MFD and the oil temp only went up a few degrees and water temp hardly moved.

Guess its ok to give it a little, as the car has to pick up, take off whatever, just don't full boost it and change gears at the redline LOL!

Strange, alot of ppl are saying 70ish degrees for water ans oil temps where mine, even on cold nights are 80-85 oil and 82-84 water temps.

do rb25's run lower than the 26 and which ones run oil coolers; was under the impression that oil operating temp are over 80degrees ????

My R34 N/A is running water temps of 89C to 91C as always

Engine is stock and I have no drivability issues.

I just changed my coolant about 2 months ago....

You will expect hight temps when it is 40+ degrees C, its normal.

Just take it easy.

cars runnign pretty good. i dont boot it or boost it much when its hot anyways so just cruise around witht he AC on lol

but thinking about puting a washer jet nozzle thinki on the front bar in front of the cooler to give it a quick squirt every now and then. might help drop temps maybe???

Yeah you can install water jet nozzles to spray your intercooler when the car hits boost.

You probley be topping up the water bottle a lot more often thats all.

But its the best you can do to give it some heat soak and get cooler air into your inlet plenum.
