hey guys i was driving home tonight and when i put the stereo on my lights start to flicker when i hit the brakes, and when i am on the highway my lights vaugly flicker when the bass hits and my bass setting is on like -5 on my head unit....and my bass cuts out when i am on idle....i had to move a few things in the back yard tonight and i left the lights on my car without it being on for like 5-10 minutes and it was hard to start the car, the battery was only replaced november last year.....do you reckon its the alternator????

Alternator should be providing 14.4v at all times.

Might want to list your audio equipment as it sounds to me the alternator you have now isnt up to the task of powering your audio equipment.

ok more details about the situation.....i tried it with the sound off, it works ok but when i turn the a/c on aswell it tends to do sort of the same thing.....and also mind the fact i never replaced my alternator when i did a rebuild on my skyline so the alternator has done 184,XXX k's, but the motor has only done 60,000 since the rebuild.

my audio equipment,

dvd player in the front,

fusion 6inch splits and tweeters

pioneer 320w 6x9's

pioneer 1200w sub

pioneer 720w mono

its not a big system and my car has never done this in past only recently, the system has been in teh car for about a year now

Might even be worth investing in a grounding kit like: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/D1-Spec-super-earth...1713.m153.l1262

I've been told you can pick up a cheap used kit off yahoo auction, but I've personally never used yahoo auction.
