Stuffed if I know, one thing I'd check is to see if the 4WD light in the dash has actually blown or is it still working? Does it light up when you put it on acc or start? Sounds like it would be a sensor issue or something if youve tried different sets of tyres. Have you also had a quick look at the attessa ecu underneath the parcel shelf in the boot?

No never, the hicas light use to come on every now and then, but that stopped when i topped up the fluid resivour in the back...
That's ATTESSA fluid, HICAS fluid is in the steering pump.
The last place i took it to said that there was a difference of less than 4mm over the rolling diameter of all the wheels, i dont think the atessa can be that sensitive.. otherwise you'd have to change the tires front and back every few weeks...
Doesn't hurt to swap tyres F->R every 5000k or so, just to keep the wear even. Of course, if you keep smokin' the rears, you will need to do it more often. But then there is a solution to that...
and it's still doing it with 2 sets of wheels and tires...

the original 16's (which never had a problem when i bought the car with them on) and now the 17's

For the final time, it's working as Nissan engineers decreed it should work. Why it didn't do it before, I have NFI, but it is working correctly now!

Yeah 4wd light works fine, there are no fault codes in the attessa computer either...

it has myself and 2 workshops stumped...

ah well...

i'll keep searching...

Did u find out what the problem was? im having the same probem with mine atm. really pissing me off.

It started of sending torque to the front wheels under meduim acceleration. now it has just got worse over time that it will start sending torque to the front wheels even with 1psi of boost at any point in the rev range.

Taking coners is a bitch now- getting heaps of understeer.

My tyres are the same diameter. i have tried different wheels and tyres also.

if im just driving along say 60's in my gtr. and my foot is on the pedal say 20% it will show nothing to the front. But if i slowly start to put my foot down to 100% it rolls the torque on as i boot it.

it dose send torque to the fronts most of the time. u dont have to have your foot throught the firewall for the 4wd to kick in

i'm in a similar position..

when i first got the car i never noticed the gauge move much (unless giving it throttle in the wet)..

then after a while my clutch started slipping fairly bad and i noticed the slip was coinciding with the front wheel torque gauge.. so i figured it was the transfer case slipping not the clutch

i yanked the fuse out from under the hood and drove in RWD for a while (no slip for ages, then slips here and there, etc)

brought it to a jap workshop and they did the clutch and said the attessa was fine, brought it back to them after a week with the complaint that it was sending power to the front under medium accel... was told this was normal, they checked for errors got nothing
