Anyone going on the Sat 14th to PI (training day Sat = more laps, timed sprint Sundary 15th)

Keen to see some GTRs flash past me down the straight! I'll be there in my Datsun 1600 13B BP, hoping to sneak under 2 minutes this time around. Best day of the year.

I'd have my left one ripped out if I raced on Valentines Day...

hehe, :domokun:

And given you already had your right one ripped out for buying another racecar after the STi "incident" you really need to hang onto that left one mate

PS - I'm out. Car won't be ready in time :P

If United don't get their 100 RON delivered this week I am out too without a major retune.

I'm told the Bayswater station has been out for over 2 weeks and the Mulgrave one I normally go to is out as well, with the guy behind the counter having no idea when deliveries will be.

ARRGHHH

Best time for the day: 1.48.6

Too Windy

No one looks in their mirrors

Too many cars of varying times on the track

Could of had 7 sessions - although they did not time the last two for some reason

A big accident, hope the guy is ok. Car was a mess.

If anyone from United Fuel is watching this, get your finger out and make sure there is enough fuel for me - before the actual day of competition, not on the day!!! :D

And Ant - I see you nearly cracked the 49 again!! - That's quick for 280RWKW.

Agreed BB....too windy and too hot despite the breeze. Don't know about you but I was hitting some pretty serious oil temps around the 130-140mark before I backed off. In some sessions there was a lot of traffic and some people seemed to think it was a race, but the extra traction out of corners helped with that

Didn't beat my 1:49.68 with a best of 1:50.28 but the fact that 8 laps out of 19 were in the 1:50's I was at least consistant.

Yeah, I was seeing 130 deg oil temps - however that's normal for me - even with the oil cooler. I rest the car when water temps go over 95+ as I seem to lose some ign timing past that to save the engine.

I have a vented bonnet to fit before the WRX PI event to try and get some temp out.

There was a guy in a white BMW that most of us wanted to punch in the head for being a tool.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one running with those sort of temps but normally even on a hot day I run a max of 120. I guess that is the bonus of running 270-280rwkw in that I don't feel a loss of power when the engine is running that hot :)

The only white BMW I saw was the beautiful E30 original group A car...do you mean that? He was in my group (7) and came up to me before the first session saying that he has only just bought the car and was giving it a bit of a shake down and test. Funnily enough I only had one session when he was in my group and the last I saw of him was disappearing straight on at MG :)

The tool I had in my group was an improved production Civic that wouldn't let me past and when he left a gap on the inside of MG for me to use he decided to fight for the spot

Yep, that's the guy, he was falling off everywhere and generally not looking in his mirrors.

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
    • A Brumby would probably fit a big metal toolbox in the back... this is how it begins
    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
