I have just installed a R.I.P.S catch can washer bottle combo in my R33, and the setup requires the exhaust breather -> intake to be blocked off, and the PCV blocked, and just have the exhaust and intake breathers routed to the catch can.

I decided to try keep it looking factory(ish), so had a double ended bung made up out of alloy tube to block off the exhaust breather.

So apon cutting the breather hose open to put the bung into, i came to a solid bit of metal.. i thought maybe they were reinforced hoses, but decided just to pull them apart, and out dropped this little metal restrictor. The hose is just for size reference.

Im guessing it maybe slows down the airflow and helps the oil vapors dribble back down into the cam cover instead of going straight into the intake?

This is where it came from, and i replaced it with the bung.

And ideas?

Leave the restricter out. Bigger the better. Bigger = slower air and a greater chance of oil dropping out of it.

Its only useful for the std setup that uses the PCV valve.

Well i wasnt going to put it back in, its blocked off completely as you can see in the photo now, and so is the PCV. Just wondered what the purpose of it was. Cheers!
