Hey guys, lookin to get a vented bonnet for my 33 soon but really dont want fibreglass as it looks all wavy when painted.

And I dont exactly want carbon fibre because i want my bonnet to be colour coded to the car.

If anybody has any advice/suggestions/information please let me know.

Thanks!

What do you mean by wavy? If the people painting the fibreglass know what they are doing it will turn out fine.

Carbon fibre can be painted over to match your car.

If you know how to metal work, modify your bonnet yourself after looking at the fibreglass/CF ones, otherwise be prepared to pay big $$$ to get this done out of metal.

There is a post here somewere were a guy cut out his bonnet and inserted mesh, in a beemer i think, still retained all reo.

Looked swish to me.

Thinking about doing it myself as f/g and c/f will pull a defect depending on what state your in.

    • Connected to plenum towards the rear end. Yes, absolutely required for the ECU. Even Nistune can't save you if you don't have it.
    • Can confirm solenoid makes no difference. I finally removed the solenoid and the wire off my engine loom and there is no issue with boost. Keep in mind, this is the solenoid, and I've got a Nistune. After the boost controller, I ran the car for a day with the solenoid unplugged - no issue. So then I just ripped the whole thing out. Like @GTSBoy mentioned before, the ECU just sends an earth signal for the 2-stage boost. And looking at the wire going into the solenoid, that just had 2 standard wires and did not look important 🤣 As for boost sensor: I saw somewhere that the vacuum line the gauge uses is at the back of the engine on the driver side. I never touched that but assume ECU uses that??? (maybe? Just assuming)

    • True! I think I'm closer to 06 with the cameras in phones being out there more. And the nearly impossible to use internet web browsers. Or paying for ring tones... Man I hated when we couldn't just compose a ringtone on a Nokia anymore! These days I just hate it if my phone rings, beeps, boops, or vibrates!
