It could be either $300 and 3 points, or $700 and 5 points for a regular license AFAIK, but due to the fact that you are a p-plater, you may need to prepare yourself for one of these...

lol um u lose ur license

but if u meen u were doing 100 in 70 zone.. depends exactly how much over u were. wen i was a p plater i got done for 28 over. was 4 points and like 350/400$ cant remember

i think 30 and above is reckless driving and loss of license tho.

you'll probably lose it for 3 or 6 months. doesn't matter about the points, you're going have zero.

red platers in nsw have 4. any speeding fine here is 4 points.

Not the same in W.A tho.

LAst time i heard p platers and non platers have 12 points each.

You cant compare states as each has their own legislation.

You wont lose your license. I got done doing 135kms on the freeway (I had to get home and go to bed cos it was late and I had work the next day... Never again!!)

It was 5 points and $700. A radar detector is a good idea, but so is slowing down. I''ve lost 11 points in 12 months, trust me, speeding isnt worth it!!

I've paid more on speeding fines then a radar detector would cost >_<

yeh just slow down aye.. i have lost my licence twice and ot took twice for me to realise it sucks, i havent lost a point in 15months and drive every day, there is plenty of motorsport available to give ur car a good thrashing.

yeh i spose the way id been driving i was bound to get fined sooner or later it was on alexander drive comming towards hepburn (in malaga), i personally think 70k's is too slow for that road anyways, the left lane usualy moves at 80-90k's, i dont know y i was speeding i just took off from the lights, built it up to 100 then started to cruise over the hill.

the reason i hate driving the speed limit...every single car drives up my ass even in the left lane, they usualty have some piece of shit lancer/excel or something along those lines, they change lanes give u a dirty ass look, then rev the living guts outa there 4 banger to make it move, just makes me wna shoot past em.

another example, on hepburn (80ks) i had some cnt in some new sum sort right up my ass, usualy wen some1s tailgating i speed up a lil, to prevent road rage, so i get up to 90 ks stil up mi ass, 100 still there, by tghis time i think he wants to race or something, 120 still there, i boot it to 140 still there so i just turn off, do a U-turn and come back to find the guy pulled over with his interior light on, my guess wud be calling to hoon hotline, even tho i wuda been driving the speed limit if he wasnt half way up my ass

edit: oh yeh i bought a whistler pro78, he gave it to me for 500 coz i told him wat happened, might get a scrambler after i do some research to see how legal they are, and apparently zenon gas charged headlights (just those halogen ones) contribute to preventing a reading from lasers/multinovas so i might start driving with headlights on during the day too. the detector is pretty good, picked up a cop car on the way home, and i went past the camera again (so tempted to run it over) and the detector picked it up as soon as i turned the corner, prbly a good 2-300 meters.

u were 30k over slowing down? atleast ur honest..

u've been driving for 6months?

"personally think 70k's is too slow for that road" "100 over give or take, as i was slowing down"

some of ur previous posts along the lines of: 'car isnt fast enough anymore', 'cant do good burnouts' etc, sounds to me like you need to chill out on the road.

kick back n relax its not a race champ.

edit: to clarify, reckless driving is when ur doing 45k over the speed limit

I've had one of those detector dealies and I lasted in my car for a couple of months. Even the good ones seem to go off for no reason. The best way is to learn the hidey holes the man uses and be ready to hit the brakes when you see something that doesnt belong...oh or slow down

    • Noted. Have noticed BMW are more 'high maintenance' for sure. They've attracted my attention as I think the used car prices seem reasonable vs other options, and the extra quality overall vs a commodore / camry / corolla or similar of the same vintage is appealing, especially the interior, and they are more on the sporty side whereas the others mentioned can be more cruising or economical A-to-B only.
    • Haha yeah I know, this is SAU after all, why are we talking about BMW's of all things!? I hear you on the 'don't have to worry about it' side of things. Having been fortunate enough to be have been able to buy a brand new motorbike or two...never really enjoyed them as much as I'd have liked as you worry so much about where you park it, will it get scratched, stolen, attempted theft, knocked over, etc...and yes dirty. Older less valuable bikes you can just go where you want and park it wherever and not really worry that much in comparison. And who cares if it gets dirty! Never owned a V8, and have had my eyes on VE / VF commodores for years but with their prices climbing so high, the M3 has come into focus more as prices are much closer than I've ever seen...is it a potential contender now?...of course need to factor in the S65 'maintenance' especially and like you said general M car 'tax'. One can dream anyway. But more on the reality front - did read the whole 330i thread as well and was a great read too, both threads enlightening as I've never even driven one of these cars! I do recall 330i didn't seem to have the same amount of issues for almost the same car (turbos and related differences notwithstanding)...perhaps down to getting it earlier in it's life so looked after better than the 335i? Perhaps so as your 130i has been good and quite similar, so finding a car that's been looked after well is the especially-crucial-BMW-first-step.
    • Nice. Dont worry about the time of not running. My current skyline hasn't run since I bought it. About 8 years ago.
    • It's also worth noting that I am heavily and unconditionally biased. I've had a lot of cars including some GTRs a fair while ago. I love my BMW's now a lot. They make no sense a lot of the time and the guys on here remind me regularly that I could get something else that does what I want better and cheaper. If you're going to take on an older BMW it's definitely a commitment. If you bail on it early you'll lose money and also the ability for it to put a smile on your face. Stick with it and it just gets better.  f**k I should get into advertising.
    • Careful with posts like that around here without the flame suit on @cobo_11! 😂😂 My 330i journal is on here too. That car was so good and super reliable. We still have a 130i in the family which is almost identical to the 330i and easier to find in manual. It has also been almost faultless over the 6 or so years in the family.  I used to want an M car a lot more than I do now but if I'm honest and without trying to sound like a wanker, I can get such good performance and handling out of my 335 without needing to worry about all the crap that goes along with M car ownership. I don't need to worry about my bearings or subframe issues or the cost of replacing brakes or suspension or whether it has been impeccably maintained. And I can leave it places and not get upset when it's always filthy.
