The 4 Door R34 25GT is different in a number of ways =/ Makes it a bit of a pain when getting parts and knowing what works. Whislt they aren't as common as the 2 Doors, it might be worthwhile making a thread for reference for 25GT Sedan specific components (eg. brakes, diff, iirc the suspension was a bit different too? can't really remember now about suspension..)

Hey guys,

looking at tyring to replace the centre in my r33 (series 2 3x2 bolt) with a S15 centre complete with its 3x2 shafts.

wondering if I would need a new back to the diff??

and if it would bolt straight up using the s15 half shafts??

any recommendations? looking to get a lower final drive ratio... i've currently got the r33 auto 4.363 looking to go down to something around 3.6...

cheers

what i rekon is that 25GT in 4dr come with 3x2 hole and R34 GT-4 as well

where as 25GT 2dr & GTV has 5hole

did my first skid in like 6 months last night, felt awesome with 2 wheels spinning Lol

Correct. The 25GTV has the 5 hole flanges on the drive shafts.

Also, from what I understand, the GTV diff is the same viscous diff as a GTT so there's no point changing it ( IMO ) unless you can find a GTT diff with a aftermarket center. What does the S15 diff has inside it ? Same viscous setup as the GTT ? Also what's the diff ratio of an S15 ?

So did I read somewhere that the GTT is the same housing & flanges as the R32 GT-R ? ( or was I imagining it :P )

Bumping a very old thread here...

I recently helped a mate put an R32 GTR diff into this R34 GT-FOUR (changed the axles etc aswell).

The diff he bought had an S15 rear cover on it which meant that the sensors on either side of the diff wouldn't fit properly (it's been a while since I looked at it but from memory one type sat on a flange-thing with a screw hole in it and the other type looked like it was glued in). He now wants to change the rear cover so that the sensors will fit (original diff is long gone).

So the question is really, which rear cover to get?

From reading this thread it looks as though the R33 GTST / S14 diff cover should fit and line up the sensors properly and the R34 GTT won't? Is that correct?

    • I'm running a Haltech Platinum Pro with the stock map for the RB20DET + tweaks for my build. When I started it this morning, the IAT was at 32F/0C (Outside temp was ~42F) and the AFRs went off the scale for my AEM gauge. I let it run for ~30 seconds then turned it off. I then did a smoke test, by hooking into a vacuum line directly behind the throttle body, and confirmed there was no leaks ( i let the smoke tester run for ~5 minutes / confirmed it was generating smoke before hand ). I then started the car again, after fixing a power steering leak.... and it seemed to be happy for ~30 seconds (was at ~11/12), but then seemingly shot back up to ~18 again. I then let the car run for a few minutes, thinking this was just cold start related, but the AFRs never came back down. I didn't let the car fully warm up, so maybe this makes sense, but I'm not sure what to do? The AFRs, when I last ran it, were normal, but because of personal reasons I haven't been able to break in the car. It was rebuilt last year.
