hey all,

just bought an r33 gts-t, all good.

the turbo timer however, is very eager, it likes to count down and cut the ignition whenever it feels like ie) when im trying to drive.

pretty dangerous.

it's a blitz japanese writing something-or-rather, can i disable it simply by unplugging the loom that goes into the back of it, or do i need to get down and dirty with a soldering iron?

It'd be easier for you to get down and dirty with soldering iron, however, it might be best to get mechanic/auto electrician if you're not 'electricial savvy' when I removed mine I got my mate to do it for me and it's sweet.

The problem you're describing, it's pretty dangerous - most likely faulty unit or dodgy wiring.

I don't see the point in turbo timer, hence the removal of the turbo timer on my 33, just cool down for couple of minutes before turning they key off, easy as.

Cheers

Just a quick question - going thru the pits early next week, is it possible to just CUT the wires going to the turbo timer unit itself? I wouldnt think so as it would f**k with the ignition system/relays n all that jazz...would the car just stay turned on or wouldnt start? Im fairly handy with a soldering iron so i can solder the unit back on no dramas...any help?

Just unplug it and see if the car will start.

If it does start, then you've fixed it without issues. If it doesn't, then you know you can't just unplug it....is it that hard to work that out? (@repliers, not OP so much )

My first skyrine had a HKS (I think) timer....had to remove it (see: unplug loom and stash in kick panel) for rego....car acts as normal when it was unplugged.
