DaveB
perhaps:... save until the financial situation recovers a bit, and the yen gets back on the sunny side of 90, then import through a good broker and buy your grey import "in installments" like I did? ie. first you pay the broker fee, then FOB/shipping, then the freight (couple hundred), then compliance, then rego etc. It could still take a while to pay off each stage, but at least after the first few stages it is sitting in your garage and you can start working on it, or start selling off any goodies it came with that you can't get through compliance/don't want etc. I dunno. Can see that you have a much much tougher time of saving than I had saving for mine, but as they say, the cheapest car you own is the one you pay cash for... Iron Chef
Sorry if you've already covered this, but check if the banks mean they won't fund an import or that they won't fund you importing one yourself. You may find that if you can buy an M35 from a dealer locally, they won't be so hung up about it. Take in a picture of an M35 AR-X and show them that it's a family car, not a sports car... (as far as the bank is concerned, at least...) (as far as the bank is concerned, at least...) every financal institution have said the same, No vehicle that is not a australian delivery , plus my black mark on my credit DOESN'T help for a personal loan. RS4StagMan
Have you tried Aussie car Loans ?? http://www.aussiecarloans.com.au They generally bend over backwards to give finance but you may have to buy it from a dealer.. or go 'unsecured loan' instead of 'car loan'.
