Hi All,

I got a copy of C'etait un Rendezvous by Claude Lelouch on DVD today, it is incredible.

Made back in 1977, Jaques Lafitte took Claude's ferrari for a quick run thru Paris at dawn. Only 9 min, but is is absolutely flat out (close call with a bus too...)

Sure, it sounds like Getaway in Stockholme, but it is *far* more extreme.

Here a couple of reviews:

Spectacular!

I ordered my copy of rendezvour yesterday and should have it in a few days. I have a copy on video but this should be heaps better as the quality is poor. It is without question one of the best pieces of real life driving footage ever filmed. There are many rumours sorrounding it like that the driver is actually a F1 driver of the time etc. Along with the Ruf Porsche circulating around Nurburgringn and Arri going up pickes Peak, it is my favourite footage of all time.

Hurry up mail man,

Mick.

Mostly because of those crappy 70's crossply tyres he's got :(

Claude leLouch drove the Ferrari, he admitted so a coupla years back. get the DVD as there's some really cool extras on it...

For my money, it ranks alongside:

Climb Dance (Ari Vatenan in Peugeot 405 T16 vs Pikes Peak)

In-car 956 (Derek Bell in LeMans winning Porsche 956 round the old Nurburgring, LeMans, Kyalami, and more)

RUF CTR Porsche on Nurburgring

sonic, I've been meaning to watch both of those vids, haven't come across them yet....

Yeah, the grip from they tyres sucked....but the real *crazy* thing is how he goes flat thru so many blind intersections - the driver seriously had a death wish...I don't mind driving fast, but only where I can see what everyone else is up to...

i've had that on dvd for a few months now and i still watch it at least once a week.

its a bloody adrenaline rush and it sounds sooo good :(

how much fun would he have had doing that!

where can i get the other vids metioned?

they sound good

any other good not to be missed vids?

I dont know where you can get these patches of footage from now days. I have never seen them on DVD and we had them cause of links with motorsport people and running the advanced driver training.

If you can't find them then let me know and I can do a copy of it for you if you get me a video tape. The quality can be a little rough now days but still worth it and I will need a few weeks to do it time wise.

Another piece I have which I love in I have the in car footage of Senna doing the fastest Lap around Adelaide. Just lets me remember his greatness esp when the cars were so hard to drive back then. Really nice piece of footage.

Mick.

ImPrOvIsE, I ripped the file from the DVD and it was 70mb, but I suspect you found a rip for a poor quality vhs copy, the DVD is excellent.

Don't have room to host it though...

    • I'll probably be putting the shit box back on the dyno again soon, I want to dial in the closed loop boost control properly. I'll have a camera facing the car/motor for fun too. Just note, there are essentially 3x 10AN inlets going into the catch can and 1x going back to the intake pipe. Most of the time the catch can "return" to the sump actually is the crank case breather, pushing air out.
    • I have the R3C with a Nismo slave and by no means does it behave like a stocker, it ain’t THAT bad. On take off just give a bit more throttle than you would say a coppermix and it’s fine. It will not slip though.
    • Okay. Final round of testing done. Got a friend to hook up a fancy scanner to the car and we also ran some compression and leakdown tests, she is healthy.  The MAF was definitely the culprit. So for future reference anyone with similar issues that find this thread. I suggest the following steps, in order of affordability:   Check your spark plugs for any fouling, replace plugs if they are bad or re adjust the gaps making it narrower (0.8mm would be good). Check every coil's resistance with a multimeter. It can be done by probing the IB and G pins on the coil pack. Resistance should be around 1.4 (+/- 0.1) Ohms Check the MAF. If you have Nissan connect or a good scanner with the 14 adapter it should allow you to see the voltage on the MAF reading should be around 1.1 - 1.2V when car is idling. But if you don't, buy a new MAF from Amazon and test, then return it. (For instance, I got a Chinese one for $40 that was reporting 1.3v on idle). If you still have scanner, you can run tests on the injectors to see if they are working, just remember to unplug the fuel pump fuse/relay and have no pressure on the line. Then listen for the noises that the injectors make. Clean/replace injectors as needed. Once you find the issue and fix, order thousands of dollars worth of OEM parts to refresh unrelated things (Optional)   PS: Thanks to the absolute legends of this forum for the responses and help to someone that went a bit over their head.
