R34P3R
i remember when i was looking at buying a car one guy told me he had the engine reconditioned and its mostly the same as a rebuild. what is it exactly and what do you gain from this? wagts4
engine reconditioning is the trade of rebuilding an engine they strip the engine replace all worn parts like pistons liners bearings machine all parts to a new or better then new spec so its giving the engine a new life basicly i have a few mates that have this qualification but the trade itself is no longer taught as of last year the apprentices doing it now are the last of their kind Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/255761-engine-reconditioning/#findComment-4410617 Share on other sites
NA_Goodness
Firstly, Ryan could you try using some punctuation? Its really hard to read without fullstops and commas. Secondly, what a crap trade! I love pulling engines down, but I couldnt do it all the time! Much rather do a mechanics apprentiship (which I am) and do a bit of engine conditioning. Thanks for that though, I've always wondered what it meant. NA_Goodness
Thats better! Haha. I was at Malaga Auto Repairs, but my boss got rid of me for no real reason, so I'm starting at Jason Mazda very soon. But in the mean time I'm in down time at MITA I was going to be a heavy diesel mechanic but the foreman at my work experience place was an arsehole and my now ex-boss offered me an apprentiship so I took it. Congrats on qualifying though! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/255761-engine-reconditioning/#findComment-4412280 Share on other sites
wagts4
yeah its a hard road but its all worth it in the end hey. My advice is stay on the ball, be as keen as you can and dont let f*#% heads like ur old boss get you down. take it in your stride and you will be a better tradie then all of them. its just getting through the crap pay at the start lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/255761-engine-reconditioning/#findComment-4412314 Share on other sites
R34P3R
rebuild and reconditioning is the same?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/255761-engine-reconditioning/#findComment-4412713 Share on other sites
wagts4
basicly yeah but to have it reconditioned means a qualified engine reconditioner did the work a rebuild means a mechanic did the work. Not that either is better then the other just different people did the work. Unless people get their terms mixed up then there is no diff lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/255761-engine-reconditioning/#findComment-4414247 Share on other sites
