imagine that BY THE TIME YOU KNOW ABOUT THE FIRE (this includes smoke etc) its already too late to go...

that's the sad truth for some people in this case...

fire moving @ 120kph... you have to understand that the fire's gonna be on you before you have time to escape through kilometres of minding roads.

ok, so maybe if ou left your house every day over 40 your point might make some sense

Deputy PM in parliament was reading out some stories, it one was of this couple where the wife had been nagging the husband to build a fire shelter, to which his reply was "stop bloody nagging me and i'll build the bloody thing!" hahahah, anyways, he built the fire shelter which from pictures look like nothing more than a whole lot of those cinder blocks? the ones bigger grey ones? dug down into the earth. And that was it, a fairly small brick area built into the earth. They lost the house i believe, but survived unharmed.

i'm also certain there will be some extra mandatory requirements for new homes what's all is said and done.

None of those responses are bitching, you as a moderator of this site should know better than that.

If any action is taken it should be against the inconsiderate person who started this shitfight.

Bitching might have been a poor choice or words but you know exactly what I mean so show some maturity. Enough about Ash full stop.

for those wondering why residents didn't leave, they did... but the fire was travelling at 120km/hr....... 120km/hr..... i don't care if you're Tsuchiya, you cannot maintain a 120km/hr+ place on a winding country road ...

LOL tsuchiya  ... sad situation... but that made me laugh out loud in the office

You can sue VicRoads/Local council over poorly maintained roads causing accidents why not local govt for not maintaining the fire tracks (funding cut) and not back burning and creating fire breaks (funding cut and greeny morons - some plants need fire you dipshits)? It's not like this wasn't a foreseeable outcome of not clearing bushfire fuel for 26-40+ years and emergency services not being able to get through.

Can everyone here having a go @ me say they felt the same for the Americans that died during Felix? 130+ dead, 150,000 people displaced? Its a risky area they knowingly live in.

If you answer no, then I'm very interested to know why. It's no different to what's happened here, in fact its worse.

I felt the same over that situation as i do about this, at least i am consistent

How odd comparing a completely uncontrollable natural disaster to a containable and preventable (to this extent) one. +1 for speaking too soon, 170>130 funnily enough.

Thats the cutest damn thing ive seen today.

Condolences to everyone who's been touched by this horriffic tragedy & RIP to those who've lost their lives.

Witnessing Australia's biggest natural disaster certainly has been an awful experience.

My thoughts go out to those affected.

Also Ive registered with CFA Headquarters and offered to help with anything that I can - if anyone else has spare time, might be worth you doing the same.

I dont think you could class most of this as a natural disaster because some one lit the fires to begin with.

All this hate floating around, if you want to hate someone/thing hate the green flamin mongrels who put a halt to backburning and firebreaks, save the animals WTF? thats exactly what these measures did, now we have more severe and larger fires, that wipe more animals off the map than any firebreak or backburn could do.

Tell your member of parliment that!

Hey Bec, did you register with them online or at the head office themselves?

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
    • My Fuga Hybrid is JDM, 2014 model but very similar to the V37 from the looks of things..same platform just physically larger and very comfortab;e
    • Was that Australia Delivered Duncan? Does it have siren etc?   I used to have remote start on an old 32 two decades ago, it was a cool feature. I used to wake up early in winter for work. Start it and by the time i was out the door a few minutes later the engine was warmed up and the heaters had the car toasty. It was great.    I don’t mine the ambience lighting.  I drive a western star and it has footwell lights and ambient lighting and it’s great! From the pics of seen of them installed in a skyline I think it’s a nice touch
    • re the security system, my Fuga/Q70 has the factory option where the puddle lights in the mirrors turn on when the prox key is detected, it was clearly dealer fitted and has a switch in the lower dash to disable it....it didn't have remote start but TBH I don't really miss that, I had it in the Stagea originally but never used it....we don't often have to warm the car up in the snow before we get in for Australia. And the Fuga also has the illuminated footwells, sounds like a useless feature but I actually quite like the indirect light within the car, it was a nice addition
