Hey All

I current have a 97 R33 and have the following mods

Greddy frount Mount

3" cat-Back Exhaust

Turbo smart Dual Stage Boost controller

Aftermarket BOV

POD Filter

Catch Can

front Strut

Rear Strut

Im getting a Vi-Pec replacement ECU installed in a few days and just curious about after the install and tune of what sort of power figures it will make....With current mods im running about 11-12psi.....

How much more power do you think i will get from the ECU upgrade?

To be honest I dont think you will make that much more max power

but it should have a much higher average power and mid range :P

That is where you will notice it on a stock setup like yours vs a stock setup + ECU upgrade and tuned

Hope for around 190kw - 205kw

Although in light fo the fact you have both front and rear struts you might hit 212rwkw! :D

Oh I didnt see that! Definitely need a Full exhaust before you get it tuned

Who is tuning / supplying the Vi-pec?

getting it all done and tunes from Mercury Motorsport in Windsor QLD.

Also if i get dump pipe after cECU will i need a retune?

well its not really problem its just going to restrict the true potential of what the setup can produce

when my car was fairly stock the addition of a custom made split dump and front pipe really opened it up

the stock dump is pretty restrictive so its just going to limit your power / performance a little

No worries man - good luck with the tune - be sure to post back here tonight with the results and what you think of the new ECU

Will do but it will have to be tomorrow as They wanted to keep it overnight to do what they called a "Cold Start" [No idea what that is] in the morning so i should get it around midday or something tomorrow. Hopefully i will get a dyno read out and post her up to... I paid $1735 for the ECU and another $800 for Install and Tune.... is that a decent price?

Means they will adjust the tune on the car in the morning when it is completely cold to make sure it starts and idle's properly.

Price seems allright, however you really should have done that dump pipe before the tune as its going to be restricting it something fierce.

My expectations are 175-180rwkw.

Its a little on the expensive side - Mark at Godzilla does it for $2200 fitted and tuned

But if you are happy with Murcury and their Tuning go for it - I have never had anything to do with Mercury so I cant really comment

If I was to get a Vipec I would probably go to Godzilla

I am tossing up between a Vipec and a Haltech E11V2 at the moment

5 kw atw seems pritty crap to me my friend got hes subaru impreza wrx sti ecu remaped for like $2,000 and he gained 42kw atw and all he had done was a after market exhaust and a frount mount intercooler because the reseason u can get so much is because the factory ecu dose not no u have all the moderfications done to the car and it pulles back the power because it thinks the engine is going to get damaged so after remapping the saftey setting they beefed up the fuel going to the engine so they could turn up the boost and the guys said it was not a one off thing most car that they do gain 35-45 kw from it so a 5 kw gain seems pritty perfetic but i dont no it might just be the one u got
