I think tapping them on the concrete or brick wall is Ok as long as they are small, gentle taps and you dont go under the 0.8mm which is what I want.

If I do go under the 0.8mm then will need some pliers or something else to carefully pull the outer electrode back (not allowed to touch the centre electrode tip!)

A bit different to your traditional coppers.

post-36964-1234581851_thumb.jpgG`day All i don`t see why GAPPING PLUG`S SHOULD BE SUCH A PROBLEM just BUY the right TOOL for the job if you have any worries ,it not a big $$$ item.cheer`chuckie

Update;

Removed NGK Irridium plugs, they were gapped at 1.1mm, carefully regapped to 0.8mm, inspected them and refitted.

Runs much s m o o t h e r now, slight misfire is gone. Had Splitfire coilpacks already in there.

Those of you who keep their plugs for 150,000k I can only assume you are taking them out every now and then cause if you dont I imagine you are going to be snapping plugs when you try to remove them
use anti seize when fitting them.

well just about all the info every one is writting i will agree with except for .4 mm gap fair enough you will never blow the spark out but having them any closer than the 1.1 recomendation will wear out your plug faster so instead of 150,000k's it whould be more like 60,000k's. mine had platnims in it they only lasted 50,000k's before the spark was starting to break down thought it was coil packs put in a new set of plugs to .7mm works perfect all day long now.
