So as you can see the last pic is a dint near the door handle aswell, which is quoted $400 to fix

The final price I've managed to get for the lot is $16,400, I feel the price is not bad since the cheapest NA Manual Coupe to sell on this site was a silver R34 which went for 15500 so all in all i think im getting not bad a deal.

But i will have to fly down with my dad $220 from Sydney to Melbourne and drive up and to fix the dint will be around $400. REVs and STATEROADS inspections are also being done $300 together

So i just wanted to seek some grey wisdom by running my plan by you guys in terms of covering the bases. Personally im a bit blinded by my love for the car and on a reasonable note i feel that its a fair price to pay for the car as i will have 2 projects (Rims and Front Bar) to do with it when i have funds.

Feel free to voice any opinions you guys might have, the last time i did this i got some heaps good feedback so i know you guys wont let a meek, nub p-plater like myself down. I need some of your experience to rub off on me!

Thanks a heap in advance, much respect for the members of this forum

its the usual protocol to only post multitudinous pics showing off a car after you actually buy

everything can look good in fotos - I remember a black 65 Mustang 4 spd coupe, looked shit hot in all the pics but was a total rustbucket when seen at one meter in person, and even a sadder case when started and driven on road

you should wait for the inspection reports.................and even treat them cautiously - thats the first bit of advice

^^^ yes i agree. pics are really hard to go by, if you know someone over there would be even better, but your best bet is before even considering flying over would be to get an independent inspector to have a look at it. Call around Melbourne to get a pricing and make a time to get it inspected, then ask if the seller will be willing to drop the car off there and get it looked over. Even get the dent quoted to fix by someone else also.

But having said that, looks pretty nice on the pics mate so hope it all goes to plan.

Thanks alot for the kind thoughts, i am getting it inspected comprehensively by STATEROADS first thing this monday so that will pretty much determine how things will go when and if i fly down next saturday, also i may get him to get the dent fixed before we go down to see/buy it. Also i have an uncle down there aswell so he will go down to take a good look at the car aswell.

Thanks alot guys, keep the advice flowing!

make sure u see it first...when i bought mine i know there was a couple of dints etc but the paint ended up being more stuffed than i thought....oh well full respray atm....also look to make sure all the little things r there like wheel jack etc n make sure the battery is good etc..

They are not genuine TE37 time attacks. Copies - Vork Rav wheels made in China. You can knock another 2k off if thts the case.

Thanks for the tip, he was selling them as replicas anyways and the asking price was gud but yeh thanks alot for that i didnt notice it till you told me.

Genuine stickers say VOLK & RAYS Engineering

The Black ones above have VORK RAVS. If the seller is claiming they are genuine I would probably stay clear of the car as who knows what else he's claiming to be "genuine" thats not. Also if they were the real deal, he'd be asking a lot more than $700 for the wheels.

More food for thought.

Thanks guys, just an update, im not buying the car after all, costs just started climbing before i could even see the car in person, a few other things as well, but other from that if anyone buys this car they will not regret it, its priced to sell and the seller is very honest and open with any inquiries, if anyone is interested, the car is on drive.com here:

Thanks for the advice again guys will keep them in mind for next time,

With all due respect I would refer you to the first sentence in my first post - a foreseeable outcome as overmuch ardour is usually unsustainable.

Next time lets have the gushing commentary and mass pics after the event pls

And who in Sydney would bother or need to buy from Melbourne (unless its a rare model car) - there are shitloads of good cars for sale in NSW

Hey matey, i have plenty to learn i know, no need to flame. I just wanted people to get a good idea of the car to give some feedback, and in the end, costs and a few other things all factored in so it wasn't worth traveling down. Yes there are good cars in NSW, however the prices tend to be a bit higher here than they are over in QLD and VIC as well as more R34's in VIC, so to get the best deal you have to look everywhere.

Hope there's no love lost =)

    • A little follow up here on the ceramic coating.  We've had storms galore here and I've done a few ks, enough to gross them up  Consensus is that they didn't get as dirty as usual, the coating definitely repelled a little of the dirt and I think they kinda snowball. They get a little dirty and then they get dirty faster which makes sense. Cleaning them regularly would allow them to protect better.  Cleaning was a breeze. I tried first to just hose them off which, unsurprisingly, did nothing. But, making the wheels wet and then just wiping them over with a used but clean microfibre cloth was all that was required. I didn't need any cleaner at all, just water and a cloth. The wheels look amazing again.
    • Gave her a nice wash today and took extra time to clean off the tree sap and tar and crap. We have a usable garage now so she'll stay cleaner longer. Took a few snaps in some nice light afterwards.
    • OK, solid mount Z1 diff brace is in, pretty straightforward, it picks up 3 diff hat bolts and ties them to 2 support bolts on the subframe. Pretty sure someone else on here said they had reduced axle tramp with this but mine was already pretty good for smooth wheelspin, and still is....will see you this goes over time and whether I end up with a broken rear diff hat
    • Ah yes, but the part in my hand was actually painted and fitted by me! I knew any front lip was likely to be sacrificial but I've had to fix it twice already... by the time I buy a fibreglass fixing kit, sort out sandpaper blocks, buy some fibreglass filler, body bog, spend the time and effort for a 'Greg' result... a new one being $290 seems like it's the better way to go and spray that with bedliner/raptor coat and we're all pretty again.. Would have preferred it last more than a month though. Them's the breaks I suppose.
    • I find it funny that the USA is finding out all this really really weird stuff, and people from the USA are coming here treating it like gospel, yet, all the info on solving those issues is here on these forums for the last 15 odd years... Also, I know how much heat it takes to ignite the hood lining of an R33 skyline. I worked it out myself... It also took a LOT of time, and heat for it to do it... Big single, and I needed to drive the car, so retarded the timing off to "protect it". Yeah, that was a bad move for cruising on a freeway with only 15 degrees of timing on it. That was a lesson I learned around 2009. So that's over 15 odd years ago. Aligning water and oil, that's identical for any turbo engine, it's not Japanese specific. If a shop doesn't know how to make sure the core is rotated the right way, then they shouldn't be touching any turbo engine. That's not a matter of "We haven't had Skylines for that long here"...
