hi, tried a search, but it didnt answer my question

My power steering died last week in my R32 GTS, at first i thought it was the belt cos it broke about a year ago, it wasnt, then i thought it was leaking, it wasnt, so i tried changing the fluid twice, did not affect it.

Now im kinda thinking that it is the pump itself may have died, although ive never heard of anything like that happening in any car, I was also thinking that it could be the shaft linking the drive pulley to the actual fins of the pump.

Does anyone have any ideas about this, i will be removing the pump tomorrow to check it out, but if thats not it then im all out of ideas!

Sorry for the long post but this is starting to give me the sh*ts

Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions

Andrew

when u changed the fluid, did it take up about a litres worth, if yes then my guess is ur pump is working since it has filled up all the lines etc. wen filling up did u turn full lock left to right, wen u do this u shud hear the pump slurping and sucking away. this way u know it is pumping.

yes, i did as u said, and was expecting (hoping) that i would get the results you described, but i only got about 300 mL out of the system, and was trying (with great difficulty) to turn lock to lock as i was filling, no luck there either. the other thing thats got me thinking its the pump is that i cant hear the pump when under heavy turning loads (full lock etc..)

thanks anyways
