Boof,

Unfortunately I can't really see that happening. Its only going to get worse for the imports as a clean R33 can now be picked up for dirt cheap by an 18year old.

Combine the above with the suggestion that young males tend to take unnecessary risks as a result of brain development not being complete.

In lamens the risk taking area of their brain is not fully developed until ~mid 20's.

This is where/why the hoon stigma has developed. Young males have the tendency to make silly decisions when driving in traffic, built up area's, in car parks etc as such they are classified as a hoon.

Next time you hear a car accelerate hard in a car park have a look at the driver. 9/10 times it will be a young male.

The 'older' hoons so to speak tend to be a little more wise where they put the foot down; they tend to go WOT on open roads with very little to no traffic. Some are the exception obviously but generally older males are more responsible where and when they open it up. Not saying its still right just simply stating how it is.

If your not a believer of the young males and risk taking activities do a little research; the first time I came across the suggestion was back at uni when studying Psychology.

Now its starting to run OT but still related in a round about way.

All that can be done is SAU earns its self a good rep and those that conduct them selves in a poor manner are BANISHED. lol.

When I listen to Leon on the radio in the shed and they talk about hoons and high powered cars they're always talking about imports. Its on the news too mate! When I see a car pulled over with the hood up and it's not often..... 99.9% of the time it's an import.

I'm not saying they don't touch commodores, but I think you get what I'm on about.

Correct me if I'm wrong and you know that commodore dickheads get the same treatment import drivers get, because if they get the same treatment I'll gladly put my hand up and admit I'm wrong

mate if you've been watching the news lately, you'll realize that because of recent events, clubs like RCK have painted a police target on their backs.

Yeah... lets hope the police can find the guns to hit those targets.... RCK is what happens when you sniff a lot of glue.... bogans burning rubber and thinking they're hardcore...

One twit on youtube who posted an RCK vid didn't like what I had to say (I said burnouts were pissweak esp on a single peg diff), so all he could do was say "Im gonna bash ya if I see ya"... yep.... something tells me that these people weren't Physics majors..... bring on the SAPOL onslaught I say

coilovers are legal if they are legal height and you weld them at that height, so they may not be adjusted afterwards. thats what regency and my engineer informed me.

lol rck they used to have a intro vid showing commos gunning off from cops(also commos) was so majorly amaturer it would have looked better having a kid with 2 matchbox cars going nnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr.

if you join there forums you can join in on such topics as which tyres make the most smoke and detailed guides on how to do a burnout in your mums automatic

and ive been told by cops that the pillar is the only place your allowed to have gages as the dash is your crash pad, never really agreed with that cops logic at the time as the pillar was way more likely to be hit, but i guess it depends who pulls you over. on a side note she was using a car toys brochure to help her find a bov on the car.

seems like the meeting went well, im significantly less skeptical after reading that, looks like this could turn into a very beneficial relationship.

thanks for puttin the work in nene, ben, and ruby. :P

Just going back to the coilovers mentioned a few pages ago. How can fresh imports be complianced with coilovers (or other such mods) and they're considered illegal mods and defectable?

personal import, afaik, different compliance process.

^^^ i on a certain level agree with you steve

if commodore drivers got the same treatment as us import drivers do

then almost 80% of those VN's would be defectable

Thanks, that's pretty much what I was trying to point out, not some tit for tat crap that has no benefit to this thread.

*goes and joins rck forum* thats some vital information there!!

:P:P

It's a hard forum to track down!! And once you join, you have to be approved by the king or whatever the guy is before you can even read anything.

They're always moving the forum to different web locations, too.

just a note about the commy drivers been targeted my next door neigbour has 3 really clean vl calias one of them turbo and i was talkig to him about this thread . he replied on vl calias website there are complaining about getting pulled over at random as well so it's just not the imports that are" copping it no pun intended'

ive said it b4 and ill say it again... the bottom line is... be a dickhead and get caught....

neil clearly cares if he has given his time to talk with nene, roo and ben so i believe the balls back in out court to prove our words to him...plus were not all about car cruising etc... we have dinners, bbqs, go karting and so on... were all mates not just a crew who go torch there tyers together.

a good way to prove this in the nere future is to get behind this dinner and SAU organised cruise (posted up in sa)... tell neil to bring out the EMG 001 FPV GT :ermm: hell blend in kinda! haha

my 2c!

PS... the 1st person to get defected... dont drop a "ohh but neil said... and it says on sau that this is legal"

thats the end of our dash then and there!

Being a dickhead and getting caught is one thing. Driving a defectable vehicle and being defected is another. Thats why we NEED a list, a definitive list, of what is and isnt permissible.

The manner of driving doesnt even come into account with a defect situation. If you're driving like a dickhead, you'll get cited for Dangerous Driving or Driving with Undue Care.

It really doesnt matter how good the relationship is with SAPOL and who knows who.....

The fact is organised car cruises represent a gathering of people with generally illegally modified cars that are getting together to show each other their cars, talk cars, and finally drive their cars. Rarely do people with totally stock Hyundai Accents go to these cruises because they dont give a damn about their cars...

To the Police organised cruises represent a rare opportunity of shooting fish in a barrel by ridding the roads of a potential menace, congestion, and anti-social car behaviour. While this might sound damning I cant remember being on a car cruise in the past 20 years where multiple traffic violations havent occurred. Now be honest with yourselves and who hasnt given it a squirt alongside their mates on a cruise, thats part of the fun, right?

And so is SAPOLs determination to stop these gatherings and the resulting activity. You drive an illegal car, you invite the Police to your cruise, they will defect you. They see roadworthiness as your safety as well as their job, and really they should have explained that you. No amount of brokering deals will ever change this, its all been done many times before, and will be again in the future. The result will always be the same.

Enjoy your modified cars, but be sensible enough not to do it in groups if you dont want to be defected. Go for drives meeting up somewhere out in the country, and then keep it to a minimum. Dont drive through built up areas or the cruise strips attracting unwanted attention. Rather than trying to change the law, its time to change your thinking....or keep playing the defect game. As one old Copper told me in the past "Try as hard as you want mate and put it through stock again, we will just keep pinging you every time we see you....and we ALWAYS win. You will get sick of it before we do".

Know what? He was right :ermm:

end thread

Those that wish to give it a crack by all means give it a crack; it will be fine providing cars are stock.

SAU is now in the eye of at the very least the Port Adelaide police that previously was never the case. SAU has changed.

In the past cruises were low key and avoided such area's as town, anzac dragway as well as parking it up in the BP and other various 'publicly visible' locations.

But such is life.. be smart where, when and who you drive with and there will be no issues.

Those of us who have been around a little more know there is little point in trying to develop a relationship when you own a modified car.

If I were a police officer and honestly I have given it serious thought; I would definitely defect cars that have illegal modifications especially if cruising out down Port Road, Town and Anzac highway on a Fri/Sat night and be concerned for the very reasons Martin has outlined. Not to mention jump at the opportunity to possibly clean up a little of the high powered Skylines on the road as lets be frank there are quite a few in here especially when you look back through previous dyno threads.

Accidents and stupid behavior my self included when I was younger honestly scares the crap out of me when I see youngans with 200rwkw+ odd cars. :S

If you are unsure what mods are legal etc speak to vehicle standards. I've always found them to be quite good apart from when you begin to delve in to Emission testing.

But boys/girls.. Give it a crack there's no point stepping back now, just be sure to let others know exactly what it means to attend an event/cruise that police are notified of. ;)

Already been said by my self. I'll stop repeating, thats it from me. :ermm:
