Hey

A few of us are heading up to Winton for drift this sat. Anyone else interested?

We'll be heading up in the morning.

It's an open day so you don't need to be a member. There is a beginner section as well.

Hey Dean.

It's all in that link. $130 for members. $140 for non-members.

$15 entry at the gate for everybody. Part of the gate entry is going to bushfire victims appeal I believe.

$50 for AASA licence if you don't already have one.

It was an awesome day.

Russman your car has some serious speed, what kind of turbo setup do you have?

I was having a few grip issues, as in too much of it, with brand new federals on a stinking hot day with a stock 20. Haha.

R32Big Boy PM sent.

Yeah I had the same problem. I tried running some 255's but they were just too grippy and I didn't have enough power to hold a slide. I ran some falkens at the end of the day and they were fantastic. I reckon some more power would help linking all the corners together. I had heaps of fun.

I have a HKS 25-30 at about 14-15psi. About 200 atw's. Are you coming to DECA next sat Tim?

I broke my car  ... Was T-boned earlier in the day hence the caved in door then we think that may have caused the hub spacer to crack and after a bit more drifting allowed it to fall apart and have the wheel come off. Airborn twice in a matter of seconds is certainly and interesting experience

Russell, dude you've improved ten fold! I loved watching you in my rear view mirror on several occasions :)

Yeah I know what you mean, I had new 235's, on my 9" rims, and after entering the esses in 3rd at about 110 and holding it flat I just couldn't carry the drift to the next transition, it would just bog down and grip up.

I would love to make the trip up. But I have a mates wedding on Saturday. I've never been to a DECA event before but it’s definitely something that I would love to get into. Being on apprentice wages though, I’m a bit light on in the pocket after Winton, It's almost good that they're two months apart so I can save up for the next one

On a side not, how did your temps go on the day? I only got to have a quick look at your car and from what I remember you were running a gtr cooler, no condenser, and what looked to be a factory Nissan radiator? Whether or not it was a rb26 item or similar I can't remember.

Wow. Hub bolts... you're talking me out of spacers too! haha.

Nice work Kel. You were going hard at it all day. Good to see. Consistency is what I need though.

Yeah Tim. I have a PWR intercooler that I just put in last week. Air con condenser is gone and standard radiator (I heard GTR and GTSt radiators are the same). Vented bonnnet too. I got up to about 102deg on a few occations before I went for cool down laps. My car has seen 110 before and didn't really bother it too much although it's not a good idea. I'm going for a oil cooler setup soon and then thermo fans if I need it. What were your temps like?

Were you with a bunch or guys with 32's? There was a garage that had like 4 really cool looking 32's.

Thanks Russ! My car's chassis is stuffed so we need to build a new shell in 6 weeks  and that included painting it.. Oh the joys of being a drifter..

Was is stuffed from this weekend?

yep.. we think when i got hit that it damaged the wheel studs and spacers and because i kept drifting on it, when the wheel came off i landed really hard on and bounced off the ripple strip and it twisted the chassis...

hey russell i was the guy with pae that came with leigh next to u in the shed, you were doing well out there man, i love ur 32 you have inspired me for mine now.

Thanks man. Would be good to see you hit the track too!

Since my last track day when i was having a bit of trouble with my temps I thought I would sought them out by doing it once and doing it properly sort of thing. So I got koyo rad, a GTR bonnet and grill, plus i spaced it at the back, and my water was still seeing 110! I have a hks oil cooler setup as well and my oil was reaching 110 also. I think i have to make up some proper ducting for the oil cooler and maybe run some thicker oil, was running 5w-40 and sort something out with my water temps. The factory fan on front of the condenser had a blown fuse so that wasn't coming in (comes in at 90) which wouldn't of helped but there's definitely some else going on there...

Have you changed the thermostat? Since everything to do with cooling seems good there must be some form of blockage or restriction. I'm running 5W-50 or something like that so shouldn't be that? BTW my car would have hit 110deg if I kept on going. I needed to do a cool down lap about every 4-5 drifting laps.
