So i played a small practical joke on the bosses wife a couple of weeks back. She didn't react well to say the least.

Anyway i walked out after work one day last week and saw something on the post in front of where my stag is always parked..

Anyway, on top of that today just after lunch i get a phone call from a number i didnt recognize. answer it.. heres roughly how it went

him: 'yeah mate im just calling about the volvo you've got for sale'

me: *extremely long pause* 'uhh, sorry what?' - not sure weather to laugh and ask who the hell this is, though he sounded genuine.

him: 'the white wagon you've got there for sale, is it still for sale?'

me: *even longer pause, wondering if this is for real* 'uhh.. the umm, the what?'

him: 'maybe ive got the wrong number'

me: 'yeah mate sorry i think you do'

now i cop a lot of shit in the workshop about the whole 'volvo' thing, they know it winds me up.

and i hung up the phone wondering what the chances are of someone actually having a white volvo wagon for sale and having a number similar enough to mine for him to get it wrong and wind up calling me. Pretty slim i'd decided.

So i was walking around the workshop saying 'ive got my f*cking eye on you' to everyone else.. thinking maybe theyve put an add up on a board at a local shopping center or something.

anyway realised just then as i pulled into my drive way after having driven around town that there was a big sign on the back window saying Volvo for sale, $2000 with my number under it.

Not happy.

im now plotting something big to get her back.. i just dunno what yet.

make a sex add for her. very cheap will come to you. blah blah

get some pics of her or your boss's facebook or myspace, and make a adultmatch maker profile.

or walk straight up to look her in the eye and say 'dont f**k with me' and then walk straigh off. she will either stop and do no more thinking your a complete nut, or she will step over the line again, then you gotta have a plan b ' release the nutter '

good luck buddy !

funny you should say that, got a good friend thats a coppa

and she was recently issued with a taser. and i know where she keeps her cap spray.

haha, everything im thinking of right now leads to a certain assault charge though :)

she drives a toyota kluger, the office girl helped her too, she has a red civic.

to make things worse i rock up at work this morning, first job is the alternator on a hiace van.. was spewing enough because you have to drop the engine mount out and everything to get at it. Hear a voice from outside say 'is ur car still running?' at 10am

so used to hearing it still idle as i walk away.. i hadnt actually turned the key off. 2 hours it was sitting out there running. They all heard it, nobody told me.

there will be blood..

Do you usually get out of your car without your keys? With the engine running?

Anyway, what about the tried and true deflation of all 4 tyres on both the Kluger and the Honda?

well yeah i leave the keys in it, because its parked right beside the workshop

and of course im used to hearing it still running, the turbo timer takes care of that

i got a heap of heavy duty bubble wrap before, doubled it up and taped it to the inside of the passenger side tyres so that she wouldnt see it walking out to her car. Sounds like a machine gun firing when they reverse onto it. I wasnt around to see it when she left for lunch, but im waiting for something when i get back haha.

Cable ties work wonders though, especially if they aren't mechanically minded!

haha, i had a go at that today! but stupid fwd, with belly plates.. cant get at anything easily and quickly.

a square of electrical tape over the laser on her mouse had her stumped for a while.

But perhaps you shouldnt be playing around with the bosses wife. For obvious reasons..

Yeah ... try the other "play around with the bosses wife" :(

Maybe theres all this attention because she likes you/you like her/both? :)

    • @joshuaho96 Hmm considering the drama you've seen/experienced, have you looked into getting a built complete long motor shipped from Australia?  Considering the AUD is basically monopoly money when compared to the USD, at a glance this seems like a good option?
    • Bloody Skylines, they put you through the bloody wringer! Stick at it! Stunning drag strip BTW! Where is it? Can see part of the name on the slip and probably should just Google it!
    • I mean the other day I had to walk someone through diagnosing why their timing belt was walking off the cam gears. At least one of the issues was a bent tensioner stud. Local mechanics have found runout on the CAS mechanism causing weird failures. I'm also no saint here I've documented some of the things I've had to learn the hard way. Something I discovered recently is that my CA emissions catalytic converters weren't even welded correctly to align the downpipe to the main cat and they tossed the support bracket that goes from the transfer case to the downpipe to support everything there. I spend a lot of time chasing down these decidedly unsexy problems and the net effect is it feels like I never actually get to the original objective (flex fuel, VCAM, oil control, cooling, etc).
    • At times with how you make everything sound, all I imagine Americans doing when they see a gtr is standing there looking at it and bashing it with a gun like how a caveman would with a club and hoping it fixes itself
    • I think this is just a product of how the US market works for this stuff. Shops are expensive and there's no real way of knowing what kind of results you're going to get, people don't really have the institutional knowledge. I have heard too much at this point to really put faith in anybody "full service" except maybe DSport and they aren't really a full service kind of shop. If you go to the right place I have no doubt they'll get it right for you. Some locals have set it up right but the cost really is nuts and even now they're still fighting issues. And you know I'm a crazy person who thinks things like twin scroll, relatively short low-mount cast headers, PCV recirc to intake, recirculating BOV, right-sized for ~400 whp, MAF load, validating all of that to a standard comparable to OEM test programs, etc are relevant. For what it's worth, multiple local owners at this point have been stuck in a perpetual cycle of blowing a motor -> getting someone to rebuild it -> some missed detail causes the bearings to wipe and spin just outside of break-in mileage or drop valves or some other catastrophe -> cycle repeats. I usually only find out about this because I'm perpetually helping random friends with diagnosing car troubles, Skyline or otherwise. The single turbo stuff if I'm honest is mostly secondary, it just doesn't seem to achieve the numbers in the ~2000-3000 rpm region that I would expect given the results I've seen here or in Motive's videos. I don't really know what we're missing here in the US to be causing this. Lots of people like to emphasize the necessity of finishing the project first and foremost, but I'm not made of money and I can't afford to be trashing a 15k+ USD engine build with any regularity. Or spending my relatively limited garage time these days unable to triangulate problems because too much was changed all at once. Also, even if it isn't a catastrophic failure I would consider spending the cost of single turbo conversion with nothing to show for it to be pretty bad.
