Hey all Just got a question i want to ask to make sure i dont have a problem

Anyways Yesterday arvo i was chasing some midlife crisis leb in a porshe boxter through the glenmore parkway (if anyone knows glenmore its just long snaking roads, single lane)

My car used to be fine if i gave it a bit going through there,

but yesterday when following mr porshe when i took a few tightish corners at about 70 the steering wheel sort of seized up for a second or two then released and i was able to turn further, almost sent me into the gutter.

I wasnt understeering/sliding front wheels or braking or even accelerating. I have checked my power steering fluid and its full still so i wasnt out of fluids, Hasnt happened on any other car.

My only other experience with the same sort of thing happening is if i throw it from side to side like a race car warming up his wheels it would seem to do it for a fraction of a second when changing direction, Other then that the car drives fine

Anyone ever heard of something like this or know if there is infact anything wrong.

p.s. I know i shouldnt of chased mr porshe if he wanted to show off but i did it for the skyline pride  just kidding it was dumb but it was good fun watching his face when his expensive car got caught by an N/A Skyline my brother egging me on didnt help i guess.

lol yea i highly doubt he was trying hard at all. those things might not be "quick" in a straight line but they sure do carve corners.

also you should check your steering rack and tie rod ends as it may be extending too far and making a straight join which will lock up your steering like you said.

I put it down to me knowing the roads and him not knowing how to drive through there.

Ok thanks for the advice ill go abouts checking that when i get it back friday arvo?

But if it was extending too far and becoming straight as u say wouldnt it lock turning all the time minorly?

the going back and forth real fast and having it fight you is power steering hammer, basically moving too fast for the power steering. you suddenly change direction while the power steerings still pushing the other way. commodores do it really badly...

he was in a boxter and you were in a N/A skyline>? he wasn't trying

boxters are pretty shit, it would have basically been a race of the retards, boxter and GTS, the 2 bottom level sports cars from each manufacturer. even so the boxter would have left him for dead if a: the driver actually tried b: the driver wasnt an old mid life idiot who couldnt drive fast to save his life

did the engine hesitate or anything?

Engine didnt hesitate at all.

I assume if it is this power steering hammer that there is no way to get around it?

Guess its no real drama as there isnt any place that it would happen besides similar stetches of road..

I just wont do something like that if the roads are similar, problem solved yeah?
