all you fj boys are old school LOL LOL not that thats a bad thing but with a good fmic, 14psi boost, good tune and full 3" zorst us rb20 boys should be at the 160rwkw mark...i'm changing the ECU to a full after market job running gtr cams and adj cam gears a rb25 turbo and at least 4-5 hours at the dyno now thats going to get me at the least 200+rwkws in a 1150KG car you dso the endtimes....i'm looking for low low 12s' even into the 11s'.. i want to get my name printed in HPI street times....sorry its RSX84 here forgot about the login on this computer!!!

Well we shall soon see if my old school motor can make 200+ ,with very simillar mods to you except cams which are staying standard, which is what I'm aiming for at the moment. Only time will tell. And by the way I made 150RWKW standard comp old crappy plugs that needed changing, 3" exhaust, 12-13psi, crappy cooler (2 RX-7 top mounts welded together). And probably made more torque than an RB20 from what I have heard about them ( not a whole heap). So what makes an RB20 better?

Sorry just love my FJ.

200rwkw??? EASY!!! *rubs his hands together* mwahahahahaha

Yeah i agree with you Josh, i love my FJ as well, i would sleep with it if i could :) :)

Adam those sorts of figures sound alright!!! Im hoping to have another 100rwkw ontop of that with SFA boost hehehe

Hahaha that will never happen the way im going Adam trust me!! Car's got some headlights and filler panel thingo on it now though, next week i'll buy the guards and bumper then it shall all happen hehehehehe wonder how that turbz is gonna look high mounted :) :)

yas - yeah you get the adaptors from the same place you buy the pod filters. made by some high octane parts or something !? but yeah if they sell pods theyll sell the adaptors. just go to like Auto Pro or Repco. cheap pods are okay they work just as well, then if they get dirty chuck it and buy another one for like $15, but they last ages anyway especially where u live in the city and goin to uni, not very dusty round those parts! (well i think u live in city, i seen ur car there too ... hahah u cant hide a DR30 from me!)

my DR30 made 156rwkw with catback 3" zorst, pod filter, small aftermarket Trust FMIC kit and 15.5psi boost. it also was going a bit lean top end too around the mid 12's AFR. ive since gotten the full exhaust done, Malpassi FPR to try and richen it up top end a bit more, and trying to save to get my Hybrid cooler in then see what i get! but stock turbo is only rated to like 230rwhp max anyway isnt it so thats gona be the limiting factor. but yeah, mines making around 160rwkw alright and it only has the Trust cooler which is like the size of a stock S13 one and has like 1.5m of inlet piping that crosses the front of the motor! so with the Hybrid piped straight in i should gain an extra few rwkw's and fair bit of torque i hope.

i dont fear the RB ;D

I just wanna know how well it works!

Worked out what it was that I thought was your car in Crimmos front yard, it wasn't the Magna, it was the Citroen, it has a bonnet that drops down like a Tekamon front

It's not gonna work i tells ya don't try it!!! Yeah im not even really sure how it will work yet, im asuming well cause i've seen a similar setup on a CA18 and that was impressive!! Might be changing turbo's already though stay tuned for more updates :D:rofl:

I no fear the RB [ant] unless its my mates RB25 which is mental (3rd gear traction issues???) yeah i'll fear that!

got some pics of my car today all shiny and clean haha and 1 with the new 17s on the back (just for a photo tho not leaving 17s on the back and 15s on the front! haha)

i reckon some AVS Model 6 rims, or Enkie 5 spokes would look sweet on the front in 17", with the Rays on the back. what you guys reckon?

l20et setup on an l24e..how much power will it make and how much boost before it reams itself a new a55hole?

I used to have an L24ET in an HR30 coupe...Didn't have it dyno'd,so can't give you any numbers,but it pulled a 15.1 on the G-tech,an 6psi with shift kitted auto.Not bad I thought... :D

Bloody RB20's again,eh? :D I tell ya,if I could sell my RB20 to finance my FJ20 install,I'd be a very happy man :rofl::D;)

For interest's sake,my FJ spun up 180 something KW's (246hp) at the wheels on 10PSI......Who's RB20 has done that? :D muwhahahaha

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
