']Ghostrider - sorry to question further, but why not replace lower control arm with polyurethane? i dont care either way but i may need to ring them first thing monday and ask for them to cancel the poly part and re order me a rubber part if its not too late ... since im in WA and all the parts are coming from the East.

im only getting polyurethane coz thats what they automatically chose for me. like they said this this and that is worn out, itll cost $500 to fix. so i said okay book it for next wednesday. then i thought shit i wonder if theyre regular bushes or if i can upgrade to poly ones so i rang back and hes was like nah that price is for poly ones already. so yeah i just went with what he said ...

but a guy i know said careful or you make it too stiff? is that what having poly bushes in the control arms will do? too jarring or something? whats the deal? haha

i must admit i didnt complain about it being poly bushes though since im a modifier type guy at heart, so if ever i need to buy a part for my car i want it to be in some way 'better' or 'stronger' than the part it's replacing. so thats why i just said okay to all urethane bushes!

if you realy got serious the 26 would beat the FJ wouldnt it not? 26 can make more power ultimately. like the 26 with some upgraded turbos and cooler and exhaust would make some pretty decent power even if the 31 does weigh 1360kg. my DR weighs 1280kg. so its not that much more plus yeah, you get a better base for mods, like the simple mods to an FJ that get like low 200rwhp would get you plenty more in the 26, and then bolt on turbo upgrades more again without going too serious even yet.

*shrug* i like 31 2 doors too i guess haha

The main PROBLEM with Urethane bushes in ANY pivot point is that they are a greased bush, a greased metal sleeve inside the urethane bush.

When the pivot point flexes, the hole where the metal sleeve is elongates into an OVAL shape and dirt/sand/grit etc gets into the hole and then acts as a grinder making the hole bigger. It is impossible to bond metal to urethane, hence the greased sleeve.

If you don't or can't afford the replacement every year, use stock rubber in all pivot points.

I have urethane, but only non pivot points, I even had special urethane bushes made for the rear crossmember mounts and diff support, but all lower control arm bushes are rubber.

Urethane is good for sway bar bushes, both ends & clamp mounts, torsion rod/castor bar bushes etc.

All the top rally guys use a mix of both rubber and urethane.

PROFIT margin is the main reason for recommending urethane, it's about 100% as opposed to 20%.

An HR31 GTS-X is 1360kg to be precise. That's with the factory RB20DET though....

I fear no RB's.

:)

SH!T! that means it's a BIG BRICK eh!!!!!!!

And someone mentioned 1280kg for weight, my HR30 PNV weighs only 1115 in road trim, someone put a couple of bags of cement in the boot?????

I just wanna know how well it works!

No more VG setup for me my boy :( :( Time shall bring to proof what is being done you all shall see soon enough :D :D

Classic's page!! Sick we drive classis skylines now we get our own area :D :D How rad is that harhar!!!!

Anyone know anyone that wants to part exchange a DR30 for a Soarer?

Righto when do i seriously get to slap you silly??? U wanna swap your classic for a boat???? If u want a boat why not go buy a boat hey :bonk: :tool: :slap:

Bwahaha anyone actually looked through the smilies they got here?? :Pres-hit: HARHAR!!!

i have seen a 900+kw fj....i dont remember where.....hell i think it may have been in oz.....

mark ashfords 7 sec(8.02 last i heard but that was i while ago so he prolly broke the 7 sec barrier) s14 drgcar has an fj20 that he built himself....744hp @ the wheels.......dunno wot that is in kw but its good nonetheless.......also the fj20 powered rail(dragster) that did 9's or 10's......

Any chance you could dig up that 900kw FJ??????????

Mark Ashford's S14 is quite impressive, but the thing that has been letting it down are the bad results thus far.At least he's going in the right direction now.7's can't be too far off.

Micheal Sherringham's (sp?) FJ Gemini must have 600+HP now,to run an 8 sec pass. And a 1.3 sec 60ft time! Very impressive!

yeh my DR weighed in at 1280. but im not too sure of exactly wat was in it at the time like full tank of fuel etc but id say it was around a full tank and spare wheel and everything, was 1280kg. apparently the later model DR's did raise in weight to around 1260 or so ive read on few sites ... so that plus the fuel ? i dunno buy yeah thats wat mine weighs! mite have to go wiegh it again myself to confirm.

well that bush stuff sucks but ill see how i go for 1 year with urethane in there and if they wear out over the year and i dont see the value in them in the ball joints ill get rubber put in next year ..! :D

Shane.... does your new one fit up to the stuff you had made for the VG30?  and if not.... want to sell it all?

Ahhh no the VG doesn't bolt up to my new stuff :D :D and im not really sure whats goin on with the VG, i might be trading it in yet im not sure...I'l let u know though! If we do, it will involve your stock turbo and some money cause trust me when/if a cop pop's my bonnet im now in the "officially ****ed" catagory...Pics to come soon :aroused:

according to ff mag july its still mark ashfords' 200sx with a 8.120, rail wise its paul martini 7.64sec pass, in there street four rwd times its the fj20 gemmi at 9.264sec at the top..

I found out something really cool tonight.... I manage a Blockbuster and we got a call from one of the local Video Ezy's that they had two of our dvd's, and as it was quiet I thought I'd go for a drive and pick them up. First store didnt have them (the junior who took the phone call didnt remember which Video Ezy it was) so I went to another one that I hadn't visited before. And what was sitting right outside the door? Another DR30 :) I walked in and all I could say was "You're kidding me" with a big grin... The dude that was working owns the shop with his brother and he has an early DR30... Non-Tekamon front, non intercooled, grey with a black bonnet.

He liked my front bar Ghostrider, so thats probably two orders when you get the bars done... I need another one, sort of ground a bit off the other night... even at standard height the nose is just too long and bottoms out on some drains

Thats not a turbo officer, its the air con condensor.....errrrr the heater..... yeah... the heater... thats why its glowing red at the moment

Hahaha yeah its goin to be something like that trust me, heaps of heatwrap to be used :) About to go and negoiate on this turbo then i'll let you know about the VG adam ok!!

    • Well, no. It's an 023, which is pretty similar to an 040. Although it is hard to tell from the specs, as given.
    • Hmm. Maybe the (other thing I forgot about!) Haltech removes at least some, if not all, of the problem I described. I guess there is still the possibility of getting it wrong if the AC is set up/wired up for the Haltech as if it was in an R34 (simply because it's on a Neo), and that's playing foul with the R32 AC computer.
    • Glad it eventually came out Duncan!   I believe that might be 040. 044 is the inline pump, so has screw fittings in and out. 040 is more just drop it in fuel and the bottom is "open" (mesh) from my memory
    • well mate, while I hear your pain, turns out I don't feel it this time! Must have been a bastard of a job crammed into the boot The tank was very empty (probably pumped out, not dropped and drained because there were some fumes still) and in very good condition internally. I'm sure he never ran e85 in it I don't know what the hell Nissan's fuel tank engineers were thinking about their clipping system, this hanger was really hard to get moving but came out in the end All looks very good (as I'm starting to hopefully expect) and Matty was right it is an 023 (044) bosch which should be plenty for the injectors and turbo
