Help! replace r33 rear spearkers

Recommended Posts

there should be 2 bolts holding the bottom of the rear seats, undo them then you have to lift it up quite hard.. it should come out. there should be another 2 bolts holding the rear of the seats, undo them. Now take the parcel shelf off gentally as you dont want to snap it. unscrew and replace speakers :D

my parcel shelf was tuff to get off, had those baby seat bolt thingys in it when it was complied. You might have to unbolt these through the boot. There are other clips you need to unscrew through the boot as well.

I couldn't fit 6x9s because the left side speaker touchs the battery.

If you intend to fit a sub, don't bother with the 6x9's.

Personally, i bought a "top of the line" set of Hertz 6" mid bass woofers for the rears, does the job :( (After all it is a performance car and you don't want to weigh it down with subs, etc.. ;) )

Only want to say that you don't have to cut the metal to fit 6x9's. Just have to put them in on an angle to follow the existing "D" shape cutout in the body.

I have put Sony Xplod 6x9's in (these are not particularly slimline or anything). It is fiddly but it can be done.

I posted details of this some months ago. See attachment

Enjoy

Factory R33 S1 speakers are 6.5" all round! . After listening to others on this forum say 6, I went out a bought 6s only to waste 4 hours making brakets to fit them properly :(

And yes, the backseat will need to come out before you can get at the rear speakers.

Do a search in the Car Audio section :uh-huh:
