alarm with microwave sensor?

hi all!

was in a carpark the other day, was standing near this car when all of a sudden it beeped twice at me!

wondering what/which sort of alarm this is, is this just a microwave sensor or something?

have also seen those ones which actually tell you to step away from the car, but id prefer something a little more subtle such as the beeps

really wouldnt mind this feature...

microtech has a proximity alarm option. dunno how much it cost..

my parents just got their alarm from them.. im looking to do the same..

they got the basic features for 800.

does that type of alarm detects sound? Cos I was with some friends around this WRX, and if u make some sounds, the car would give some warning beeps... sounds sick =)

from memory, ill check it when mum gets home.. i think it said that it detects movement around the car for 30cms. 1 foot. then it gives a warning sound.

cool! where can you get microtech in sydney

never heard of it though...basic features for $800 sounds a tad on the expensive side though? hope it comes with 3 point immobiliser at least though...

is it possible to get proximity alert hooked up to any alarm?

ok... im not trying to advertise for them. but they have some good features.. in fact i didnt like the way they installed it, thy cut some tube that runs into the door and it looks like some sort of seal, also the car phone doesnt work anymore, so a few call backs but still..... the guy we called was andrew (got him from a dealer) 9553-9342, 3 point immobiliser, auto arming, windows up, hijack mode (remote kill switch) turbo run-on, proximity sensors. ECT

I think microwave sensors does the same thing. Not sure if it is the same as the microtech proximity thing tho.

I remember reading my alarm manual and there were options for internal and external microwave sensors.

This just sense movement insider and outside. You can set the proximity of the outside movement, when to beep.

LeonT. I'm not sure if there is an alarm that senses noise in car. Maybe your mates Rex exhaust was loud and the alarm was sensitive to the vibration. My car sets off alarms in carparks when it echo real bad.

Not sure about the alarm telling you to 'step back', you might come back with a big key mark along your care. But it is pretty cool.

i have microwave sensor in my car and i hate it, anything metal in the car which is place near the sensor will made the alarm start suddenly for no reason

did U using your mobile phone when U stand next to the car??

In my case, when I'm using the mobile and stand near the shock senser, it may affect it....

similar thing like U using your mobile and put near the speaker, it have a beep or fz sound coming out.

skylineakt, seriously..I was shouting @ my friend near the car and it'll beep a few times, it's weird...it detects sound..the rexy was parked in a city carpark, pretty funny though as I was shouting @ the car and it does warning beeps on me

Maybe the REX was very sensitive to verbal abuse?!?!
