Well guys, I have finally put a deposit for a block of land in my project site in Pakenham (my work). So by the end of this year, i should be in my brand new house

Now, because I have a dog, and pakenham is in the sticks, I was considering taking the jazz of the market and selling the skyline instead. I was thinking of using the jazz as the prime ppl mover - only times when i will have to drive far would be to go to my PT sessions and gym, taking my dog to the vet, and to go to the dandy market for groceries.

My skyline has the following mods: exhaust, pod, DBA 4000s rotors with ferodo formula pads (on fronts), alpine sound system (sub, amp, speakers, tweeters, crossovers, headunit), hids and HR racing rims. Has done 115000klms.

Jazz is advertised on sau -> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/20...65#entry4414165

Asked mel (my gf) - she wants me to keep the line, cos shes got a 4 door subaru anyway. And she said she will help with groceries and furniture and stuff. But its come down to cutting costs and what not to be able to live in our new home.

What am I expecting to get for the skyline now? What should i do?

Bro i dont know its all up to you. I did the same thing, and i sold my skyline, got a RAV4 instead, to "settle down". Two months later gave it to my mum and got my self a real car again, R33 serII.

youd probably get more from your jazz than your line considering the shite market value now days.? that saying the line will cost more to maintain cause you never want to compromise and always want the best. looks kinda one sided hey.

sell both and see if you can pick up a stagea then you can transplant some of your engine mods and whatever over and have the best of both worlds...room and performance. I guess you'd still have to maintain it though.....hmm.

the 33 isnt worth much - almost not worth selling anymore, unless you will accept low 10 for it

id just keep both, ive ended up keeing my 33, its got 206,000 on the clock, not worth selling

but the 33 is annoying for going grocery shopping and taking stuff - ie small boot and 2 door

do whatever you like

if you want $, sell the jazz

If your skyline is R33 gtst you won't get much out of it as the market is overflooded with R33 now, I see them a few times on daily basis. ball park figure about 1/2 to 2/3rd of whatever the Jazz is worth regardless how much mods you put into the line (except perhaps if you have a 800HP engine and a pro 11sec drag setup). sell the Jazz you'll get more money. but it could be false economy as running cost (insurance, petrol, etc) is more expensive on the R33 than the Jazz. Plus trying to sell a skyline is always take a lot longer than common shopping trolleys like Corolla, Echo, Civic or Jazz.

Or you can advertise both. See whichever sold first, most likely will be the Jazz.

We were advertising all 3 cars, R33, my wife's corolla, my bro in law's Mazda SP23 when we're moving house.

Corolla sold first in less than 2 weeks. Millions of enthusiastic inquiries.

SP23 sold second after a couple of months. quite a few inquiries.

my R33 sold a year later with shitty price. lots of time wasters inquiries.

and I can't believe I bought a skyline again. I'm scared to think when the day arrives to sell - I might be going through the same time wasters again for months... skyline is addictive. easy to catch, hard to shake off.

Thanks for the replies guys - my plan was to not go jap grey import after the line - as its just not for me anymore and go for something fun and new like the mx-5 (however this is a few years down the track). But I was thinking what everyone else was thinking, and that is get more money for jazz - so thats why i put it on carsales.com.au and sau....there is still time before i settle the land and build a house on it....but the quicker one of these goes (hopefully the jazz), the better it is....

you got to price it right to sell within your time frame... you're asking 20k for the Jazz 1.3ltr, have u checked the latest brand new price? they've dipped below $20k now for the 1.3 model... you need to beat the new price. Take a look at some near new demo dealer cars for their drive away prices here.

Yes, I know, it hurts.

i has idea...

MX5 with a VR38DETT :)

that would be in f**kin sane

It is... just as insane as the mechanic who tried to shove the big badass VR38DETT in the petite MX5 engine bay.

Sounds almost like some certain genre of p0rn from USA.... but let's not get there...

or an aussie delivered R32 GTR

The thing is they're getting rare as hell now, and most people who have these tend to keep them for collection, not trashing or modding them around... too much grey imports R32 GTR makes the search is almost impossible. definitely p0rn if you can get one.

haha man....i cant afford all that!!! most likely keeping gtst - from what u guys have said, its the only logical thing to do

yeah - im thinking of dropping it another 1k, and putting that just put deposit on property so need to sell asap

i hate to say this but: you have to be realistic, you have a mortgage now, the skyline is older, and as it is has higher running/maintenance costs, plus all the little shit that will be past its useby date. sell it, you will save the difference in resale of them both in maintenance.

once house is paid off, get an r34 or newer :)

when i got a place a year ago now, i wanted to sell the line to renovate and spend $$ and get ahead in it all while getting used to the mortgage payments etc etc......but in the end i realized this:

if I sell the line now, I get $$ IMMEDIATELY but will forever want another skyline or regret loosing the one I've worked so hard on. This most likely will result in me saving to buy one when i get on top of finances etc in a few years time.

OR

if I keep the line, I don't get the dollars straight away but in a couple of years i'll be in the same financial position anyways and still have my baby!!

So i decided to keep all the above, the daily, the line and i've done the renos and slowly making up the difference. in another year or two i'll be where i would have been anyways and i'm still driving my beloved r33 :)

sell the line i reckon mate especially if its costing you money...later down the track when you actually do wanna get rid of it, it will be harder to and plus will get less for it.

the jazz will be much more practical/economical for getting you around and would be much comfortable for groceries taking around your dog and so on.

as you said the import scene isn't your thing anymore so once everything has settled down get your mx5 or something of the like.

thats what i would do.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
