We can't wait any longer to find an ecu for our S2 Stagea auto. The std ecu couldn't be fixed (BUGGER)! Have rang lots of wreckers with no luck and my local nissan can't even get back to me. We are going to have a Vi-pec ecu board fitted next week. It is going to clean out the piggy bank but I am looking foward to driving wagon again. I am going sell the Apexi SAFC and Jaycar boost controller that are wired in. I will sell Apexi Multi checker also if it can't be used. It will be interesting to see what wagon goes like. I have just o'hauled head after head gasket letting go on no. 6. At same time I match ported manifolds to head. While in machine shop they dedaged seat to port machining steps and smoothed chambers. I had injectors cleaned. I also fitted an adj. ex. gear at the same time as fitting a 100k km timing belt kit. Wagon allready had a k&n panel filter, full 3" exhaust and was running 10lbs boost. Head gasket blew 2 days before new years and wagon has been off road since. I am going to the blow cobwebs out once we get it tuned!!!

Sounds exciting. I have been told that the Link (same as the Vipec) can handle autos (i.e. retarding timing etc during gear changes). I haven't taken it further because I can't afford one just now and I have found someone to make my ecu tunable but I believe you may need the top of the line model to handle the auto (but maybe not). I look forward to your results. If it goes well your car should fly with the stock turbo (more airflow for the same amount of boost) but you will also be set for a turbo upgrade in the future. keep us posted!

I've been told the same thing from a Vipec dealer, which is good news because I was just told by the Haltech people that the e11v2 will NOT talk to the stock ecu. The only way to get the Haltech dropping timing on shifts is to attempt to intercept a signal from the gearbox when it changes gears and set that up as a flat-shift function in the Haltech :P

Keen to see how you go skidkid!

surprised you didnt grab a chipped one from yahoo japan.

tested a S1 one recently, worked a treat, and the fella also had a S2 unit coming as well......

so they are around, used S1 or S2 ecu's chipped for Rom tune in Japan.

grab one, use safc to sort out the tune on your own car, and go from there? around $300 a unit.....

anyway best of luck

I have been assured that the Vi-pec will run our S2 with an auto. If not I will not pay for it and I will have to hurt somebody!! Tangles; We decided not to go 2nd hand ecu because no warranty and Vi-pec can be tuned to our mods!!

  • 2 weeks later...
Ouch!

$1760 for an ECU which is in my opinion one of the best available and is over $200 cheaper than a GTS-t Apexi Power FC which is quite a basic ecu compared to the Vi-PEC.

$750 for tuning

seems the going rate really...quality costs money
