ey fellow sau's

recently iv been having quiet a few problems with my car,

first started with the ecu, it was running on 4 cylinders, changed it to another one and it ran fine,

next the car started backfiring heaps and i mean heaps, even if you just press the accelerator a bit it will backfire

and it seemed to be running really rich, you could smell fuel out of the exhaust

then the car wouldnt start at all until i gave it a bit of gas, and it would finally turn over, it still ran like shit,

checked the coil packs, and when i took out number 1 there was no change in engine noise, so it seemed like it was running on 5 cylinders

replaced the coil pack with another one and it still the same shit, changed the spark plug on that coil pack with another and same shyt,

whilst plugging and unplugging coil packs, the car turned off

and now it wont crank over, i think its hydrolocked

im asking what is the right way to un hydrolock the car, iv read about it briefly but don't wana stuff anything up

could it all be related, i.e a leaking injector causes the car to run rich and backfire and then hydrolock it?

any help appreciated thanks,

mods as per sig

remove the spark plugs and hold a ciggy lighter to the hole*

*cover eyebrows

lol

i find inserting lit party sparklers into the plug holes works best :P

so am i right in unplugging the CAS, injectors, coil packs, fuel pump fuse and ecu?

is this still gona crank the engine? so that the fuel comes out? i know i have to use a clean rag or towel to get the fuel out,

thanks for the quick replies fellows

Just remove the plugs and coil and the CAS plug no need to injectors.

The engine will crank nice and fast... well should and speed in which would atomize any fuel and come out with the air being compressed out the spark plug hole.

Best do an oil change too once its up and running, fuel has probably seeped past the rings and into the sump, diluting the oil. And i would be pointing the finger at a leaking injector for the cause.

cool thanks people,

so would a leaking injector also make the car run really rich and backfire, id rather diagnose more problems tomorrow than fix the injectors and find out something else is wrong,

il just have to wait and see tomorrow

Yeah if the injector is shagged it might not be shutting off when it should, thus letting fuel seep into the cylinder. If your getting one fixed you may aswell do them all.

is that a serious answer or another smart ass comment

aww c'mon...lighten up...it was an attempt at humour...albeit a poor one.

I was only trying to help out mate.

Best of luck fixing it...or finding out whats wrong.

hey ppl,

just letting you know that i fixed the problem today, Cylinder one had a shit load of fuel in it, had to crank it twice to get it all out, it was like a puddle, no joke

on injector 1 the o-ring had come off causing it to leak,

the back firing has gone and car runs good, just waiting for some splitfires and more boost now

thanks to everyone that posted

lol and Dirtgarage i know u were only joking around, kinda funny now looking back when my car is all fixed, but yesterday wasn't my day

i think its time i become a Vic Member to pay back for everything this forum has taught me,

cheers
