Water Leak From Back Of The Head

Hey guys and girls

I was driving last night on the M4 when i heard a tinish sound so i pulled over to have steam(thought it was smoke at frist) coming out of every where under the bonnet so i got it towed home.

Check it this moring seems to be puring out of the back of the head. Im guessing welsh plug???

What makes a welsh plug blow out i have aftermarket radiator with nismo thermosat and nismo radiator cap(and Grex oil cooler) car never gets hot!

Anyway is it and head off thing or a engine out thing??

I sould also say that this engine it maybe 20-25k old so the welsh souldnt be old.

yeah there is a welsh plug in the head that goes to the coolant galleries at the rear. Maybe not installed right in the first place

More likely to be a heater hose though, are you sure its a welsh plug? Could also be the coolant feed to the turbos if you have the standard hoses.

If you are sure its the welsh plug you can leave the head on and drill a hole in the firewall to change it. Seen it done before but I guess you've got a whole interior in the way.

Im not sure its a welsh plug but with the amount of water coming out seems to much to be a hose. O well sounds like an engine out job mite leave it to i start to build my new garage and need the car out of my way lol.

I take it you didn't use new hoses when the new motor went in??

I had a hose go back there. Pulled the plenum off and replaced these;

21307-05U02, 14055-05U11, 21307-05U04, 14055-05U01, 14055-05U02

Water/heater: 92410-05U00, 92402-05U00, 92401-05U00

BTW - i met you at the suspension tech day at Heasmans ages ago

i dont think its a hose but no i didnt replace all the hose tho i have a set here so may as well fit them when the motor comes out this time.

Id say most likely the turbo coolant supply line unless you can see the welsch plug leaking with a mirror? The larger hose is the coolant supply line. The two smaller ones are just signal lines for the wastegate actuators. Have you checked the heater hoses that run along the firewall there?
