Hi ppl,

Was wondering if installing an oil catch can will make a difference to the engine.

Mods are gt30, power fc and all supporting mods.

thanks!

If installed right it helps. As long as you fill the can with stainless steel wool.

What this does is scrub the oil vapour from the PCV before returning it to the intake in front of the turbo.

If you don't do this, oil will line the intercooler and piping and will reduce its ability to disperse heatsoak. If you take off your crosspipe, you'll see oil in it. This is what the catch can helps to eliminate.

It won't make a major difference, but every little bit helps in the end.

There is a difference between a "catch-can" and a "separator", a catch can purely catches oil whereas an oil/air separator usually contains baffling and a steel wool type substance to separate the oil vapour from the air.

An oil/air separator is only useful when running a plumback system as oil vapour in the intake stream can induce detonation.
