Afternoon all,

I recently purchased a NISMO polished gear knob through an auction site and wondered if there was any way to tell if its authentic?

It comes complete in the plastic box, printed cardboard etc though I seriously suspect it's a fake for a few reasons and wondered whether anyone had heard of these being produced on the counterfeit market?

If anyone has one of these can you pm me please? http://www.nengun.com/nismo/aluminium-shift-knob

Things that dont look right, the finish doesnt look perfect at all, with small like blotching in the shine coating. The letters where it says NISMO up the side also have this blotchy type finish, it's certainly far from perfect and the sticker you get is only the 6 speed and is square and doesnt have any resin coat or anything, just a plain sticker that if fixed would hang over the edges. Looks well dodgy.

Mmm, haven't heard of fake ones before but I know that the sticker for the normal, non GT type knobs looks pretty cheapo. They're meant for sticking onto the actual interior and not on the knob... there is a specific model which comes with a little coin like piece which has a shift knob pattern in it (both 5 and 6) but that's not the model you have.

Anyway, it it looks blemished, perhaps the guy kept the box and used it for a bit and tried to fob it off to you?

hmm i got a nismo polished gear knob as well purchased on ebay with nismo clear side indicators.

after a couple of months its starting to go pink on one side? mayb its fake?

but now i've replaced it with a bubble gearknob so its ok

Yeah I'm a little suspect on this. I wont name anyone here, I've messaged the seller and will wait to see what he has to say to the comments I passed through. I'll try and find somewhere in Brisbane too that stock these and compare them side by side.

well how much did you pay in comparison to market price?

cause 9 times out of 10.....if the price is too good to be true....then its most likely NOT......

im guessing you didnt buy it from Nengun right?

they are very reputable and do offer genuine products

Yeah my titanium shifter was like $180!!!! But exellent quality.

And if yours is going pink Takz, that would be the chrome plate wearing off. What your seeing is the copper plate under the chrome.
