Greetings! :)

Just been having a look on carmate and I noticed that they had some new products up on their site for the R34 turbo taxis. I've been considering getting my guads rolled/pumped/flared for some time but I've not been too sure with what is the best way forward. Although I'm not a fan of URAS, in fact, until now I've liked NONE of their gear, I saw these two products which interested me greatly:

NSGTT499USRK.jpg

This is the URAS Rear Quarter Panel.

NSGTT499USRF.jpg

This is the URAS Rear door Panel.

NSGTT499USDP.jpg

What I'm wondering is this, obviously these parts will alter the car cosmetically, however, will I also aquire room to fit larger (wider) wheels and tyres in??? I've never liked the idea of the old URAS wide quarter-panel look on its own. However, between the new design, and that URAS now also make a rear door panel to suit. It to me sounds like a dead ringer... Any ideas??

Thanks,

Mark. :/

Oh, and if I may make a 2nd quiery.. I'm also looking for a new bonnet, I had my heart set on this one but it seems CARMATE has taken it down in the last year or so. I'm rather fond of this style!

Not too confident with the 'made in china' branding... Is this part available from any other sources???

Cheers,

Mark. :/

From what I've heard and seen, if you fit wider guards you can fit wider wheels, except you may have to cut awaythe standard guards if you're lowering it a fair way.

As for the bonnet, it looks good. Check out PSI Parts, they might have it.

These won't widen your guards. I've seen the URAS r34 in person. It's basically a sh!tload of rivots smashed into the fender to hold the URAS kit in place over the standard body. It's not replacing the body in anyway, therefore it wouldn't give you room for wider wheels.

The 07/08 Blitz R34 runs 275/35/18 on the rears.

That is what I mean though, the pics I showed have no obvious pop-rivots... I know there was an older type of URAS rear fender that was just hideous (which I think it maybe be the one your describing)... This from what I've read and been told, is a newer designs... I could be wrong though..

I've been considering getting my guards rolled/pumped/flared for some time but I've not been too sure with what is the best way forward.

You'll be able to roll the rear guards, but not flare them using the guard roller bro because of the door. It's too close to the gap and any flaring will close the gap. Wanted it done to mine but couldn't for this reason. If you want it done you'll need to use a fibreglass one and adapt it to suit the door gap but it still won't allow for larger wheels because the original guard will remain.

will I also aquire room to fit larger (wider) wheels and tyres in?

As the others said - No. The original guard remains. You can do the front if you use either a GTR guard or a fibreglass widebody guard. The problem with sedans is the rear guards.

I'm in the same boat as I've been wanting the Bee-R324 kit so I am on the lookout for a coupe shell so I can do the swap.

Later man!

Yeah man I'm doing a GTR conversion for my front end, I've already got myself some V-spec GTR front fenders, I've pretty much chosen the front end that I'll order... Just as above, really looking for a non-china version of that bonnet, even Aussie made would be ok! Jap or Aussie would do me fine, just not huge on the china thing.... Still, even with the URAS rear fender, wouldn't it allow for a more aggressive rolling of the rear guards?? I guess you're right though, that rear door presents an issue... I wonder how many more 4-door have got treatment like this... :D

I'm not saying it can't be done - it just costs more. A competent metal fabricator could create what you want and weld it up but like I said - $$$$$$$$$$$

You're misunderstanding what this fender does. It only widens the upper part of the body. the lower is still the same width. But that's besides the point, Either way, your stock body remains original. You could in theory like 2LV8ETR said, get the stock body custom done and widened, but this will put your URAS fenders out fitment as they are made to fit the standard body not modified.

Below is a pic I took of the '07 Blitz R34 last year. As you can see it doesn't magically make the standard guards bigger. :D Think of it kinda as a bolt on.

Not sure why you wana run bigger than 275 though. Sedan Rears are fine, it's the front that's usually the problem.

Ok, yeah that is a much better pic of how the fenders actually look on the car... HHmm, I see what you guys are actually getting at.. As I said before though, I never liked the old URAS stuff but the new fenders and the rear door panels together look PORN! Speaking of modifying, Magic, didn't you speak to the guys at Fibrevision at one stage??? What are they like to deal with? You reckon it would be possible to get the stock fender modified in such a way, or would I require some donor parts or something... Any ideas mate??

I don't know about others but my dealing with FV weren't too good. They had my car for 5 weeks to do a job that should have taken no more than 2.

There was a car show coming up and they left my car sitting while they worked on a vehicle that they had in the show.

Not in my opinion cool. The timing was off but the point of the matter is they shouldn't have left me without transport as the car was at the time my only daily driver.

As long as you talk to Bruce and make sure that there's nothing that will hinder the progress of your car you should be good. They do good work at the end of the day.

there is a few ways you can fit those guards.

the easiest way is to rivots them on or you can fiberglass them on which is alot more $$

if you just install the URAS guards over your stock ones you will not be able to run larger wheels etc as you have physically not made the space larger

the correct way is to cut out or smash your std guards outwards then install the URAS guards.

1) Would fibreglassing them be any less secure than rivoting the fenders in place???

2) That is sorta what I had in mind! :D

If you go in and person and talk to bruce, he's a champ. Shouldn't be too hard to just mould over the desired parts to create a wide body look. wouldnt be worth the money tho. maybe 2.5-3k-ish.

Didn't you look at getting a full blown 2 door arse end conversion, boot, lights and all that shazam??? Surely minus those thinsg it would be a bit less ey?

when fiberglassing them they don't use the fiberglass to hold the guard to the body they use it on the edges to smooth it out so it looks like its part of the body line and not just something you have bolted on.

i think they still use some sort of rivots to hold the guard in place

I'm pretty sure they rivot them on, then cover them with fibreglass if you don't like the drift look. Michael, can you remember how Steve put his rear guards on the 32?

Yeah that's right.

My rear conversion was quote around $3,200, not including the lights or any materials, just fibreglassing and spraying. I decided to buy the wheels isntead as it had 100% resale value.

Expect to pay around the same if not more for what you want to do.

IMO the uras guards look crappy. They dont really follow the lines of the body. Ive seen GTR guards fitted to a sedan and they to look out of proportion.

I have used a 17x10 +38 and fitted a 255/40 tyre with heaps of room left, offsets a bit weak tho, this is with standard guards and high ride height.

With rolled guards have used a 17x9.5 +15 with 235/45 and slammed with camber, you wont get wider there, awesome offset though.

I would go for a 10' rim or 9.5 in a +30 - +25 offset and i think you could fit a 275 just.
