hey franks,

do you know anything further about what this system actually does?

I thought they just hold the revs at a preset limit eg 3000 where you guess is the right revs to launch? not very scientific....

eh? same link as before ed....

I'm wondering coz it really seems to be a very simple function, just hold revs at a certain level, is it just a gimmick or can it really help?

And a q to go with that, the site says

"On a turbo car, if the launch control is active, and full throttle is given for two to three seconds, the boost pressure will build up before the clutch is released, resulting in stunning off-the-line performance. "

Is that correct? I thought you don't get boost just revving at idle?

Duncan,

A mate has launch control on his GT4 with the E6K.

Pretty sure it's just a rev limiter set at 4000rpm etc.

But yeah, he can press the button, hold the acclerator flat to the floor, tacho swings to 4000rpm and sit's there while the boost rises to 7psi in about 2 seconds !!

Launches in that thing are amazing !! He has now broken the diff, gearbox, and engine mounts !! :)

Ed, in most cases that is correct.

I've heard that there are different types, but I'm not clued up on how the others work - maybe they are like anti lag etc.. Not sure.

With the PFC Pro, it uses the speed signal (wire 53?) to determine if you are moving or not, once it sences that you are moving it reverts to the normal rev limiter (eg. 7500rpm).

I think it's a handy little feature with the Pro, and worth the extra $150 bucks or so.

guys, the racelogic system is definately not a simple 2 step rev limiter.

it is an intelligent system which uses the abs sensors on existing cars to calculate the precise amount of wheel rotation the car needs for an optimal launch.

afaik, it does this by cutting spark to the engine which in turn does not effect engine rpm...

the racelogic system is definately not a cheap system. the traction control + launch control module for cars with abs costs around 700 pounds...

my friend bought his racelogic system for ~$1700 from the australian distributor - i think its chiptorque?
