So I've started to develop a nice crack in my windscreen that over the past week has been slowly wandering it's way up to the point where I can no longer ignore it.

So my question is, where on earth do I pick up a new windscreen for a 34? Is it something your normal windscreen guys can do or do I need to look around at wreckers?

Don't go to O'Brian Ben, I have had the same experience back in october and they wanted $3600 for the windscreens because they have to get it from Nissan Japan (They stock anything from R31, 32, 33, Stagea but 34's). O'Brian does very very good jobs on windscreen repair if you are looking at this route.

Instant Windscreens & Tinting is the place to go, they got me the windscreen for $265. Before you get excited I have to warn you this: This windscreen is made in China but does carry an ADR approve certificate.

Or better still change your insurance company to Shannon and they will give you a free windscreen every year.

Oh if you decided to go for Instant Windscreens & Tinting make sure you go to there shop rather then the call out cars, normally the store owner/franchisee is also the repairer rather then some puck just got there certificate that drive the van. If the windscreen isn't properly activate the next thing that cracks is YOUR HEAD.

Ok, I should have thought more about this first.

I forgot that RACQ bought themselves a windscreen repair/auto glass company just recently. So I'm going to try for a staff discount, just waiting on a quote back. Since the windscreen isn't a "standard" affair that is in the computers a manager needs to work stuff out. If that's reasonable I'll go with that, otherwise I'll give Instant Windscreens & Tinting a call. Made in China doesn't bother me. It's certainly not repairable, the crack runs from the bottom of the windscreen (initial chip is only about 2 inchs from the bottom) and is almost half way up now (and growing).

sorry to hear about the windscreen, just alittle tip that might help for the next few weeks untill you find a replacement, keep it out of direct sunlight! so dont leave it sitting in the sun at any stage ofcourse unless your driving!, i had a small chip in the windscreen and i left it for a day in the sun it got so hot that it split the windscreen all the way down, the chip could have been repaired but it was a weekend and i couldnt get to them untill monday afternoon.. it might help it not split anymore, gl finding a 34 windscreen!

So I got a price back today, and while I can't give that price out (staff discount and all) I can say it's within this price range. If you're an RACQ member it's probably cheaper. It will just take a day or two to sort out because the girls on the phones can't book it in via their system so it has to go to a manager to price up.
