Honestly you are dealing with a particularly small car market. As most have pointed out its more a matter of picking up a car in good condition than anything else. Both of these cars are not new - a r32 GTR is atleast 10 years old - that means it will require a certain amount of maintenance. You also want a particularly old car in good condition whilst being stock. Anyway, the point is its your probably can't afford to go looking for a particular car ie a black, r32 GTR in great condition with <150,000kms (dont believe the odometer either) as it really limits your option.

BUT on the other hand both these cars are GREAT cars - the r33 is slightly heavier (50-60 kgs), definitley roomier, probably better condition & updated HICAS & breaks BUT an r32 is lighter & has more of a race-car feel.

But the trouble with imports is a 10 year old engine probably won't be in as good a nick as a 6 year old engine so it kinda evens out performance a bit - just depends on EACH car (include mods to as they can be expensive $$$ but also can be a sign the car may have been thrashed in Oz or Japan.

So the main thing to take out of this is just judge each car on its merits as you test drive it - but definitely test drive as many as you can particularly r32 & r33 in both GTS-T & GTR also say a HSV VS commodore to give some perspective.

Juts me opinion but I prefer the 32 due to it's lower weight and feel. I drive many of both before I bought my 32. I could have gotten a 33 (would have been a bigger stretch) but the 32 just fitted better right from the start. Dont take anything away from a 33 it is great car but for the type of driving etc I like the 32 just had it. But I did get a 33 motor in my 32 for the reasons mentioned above. There are a few 32's getting around now with reced motors etc that can be bought cheap.

mick.

I have a 32 GTR and i love it, I've been in a few 33's and they just don't 'Do it for me'...

Mine's a 1994 model, I bought it with just over 50000km's on it..very original and standard condition. On appearance and driving, the kilometres on the speedo are close or infact true.

I've had to replace the clutch slave cyclinder, a couple of heater hoses and the shocks (just cos i wanted coil overs) since I bought it in march.

Jono

pentae, how about an oz delievered R32. They would hold their value a bit better than import GT-R's, as well as being less likely to be thrashed, even more so than some 33's, considering they were a $180,000 or so car when they were new in 91. If seen a few for sale (only 100 delivered).

GSR 135: That car sounds perfect.. exactly what I want. Did you import privately?

Mini Me: Not a bad idea.. they are hard to come by though, i would rather import one privately from japan and get car suited to my specifications :).. plus I would really like a '94.
