so how low is the nose on this thing - 2" - 3" off the ground?

had my hands around a jap one and I'm quite keen to pull a Oz spec one down for a Nav/camera idea.

need a donor car for a day :D

14cm ground clearance at the nose and reduce to about 11cm at the muffler.

thanks! that means it will clear my workshop entry. there have been cars that are a lot lower and gotten in.

I finally picked my R35 up today, wow what a day.

Initial Impressions:

Seats arent made for fatties like me, looks like i have to lose some weight! Not to bad but i am guessing made for Japanese bums. The rest of the interior is SCHMICK. Totally perfect and i have no complaints. Everything seems pretty well screwed together i must say. Personally, i dont care for all whizz bang telemetry stuff, maybe i will get into that later when bored

City driving:

This is NOT a car if you are looking for a luxo experience. The car feels EXTREMELY rigid and taut, and it tramlines quite a bit on crappy sydney roads, i'm not sure if that's due to alignment or the big tyres? The R35 is a bit of a gruff beast, with lots of whirs, clanks and clunking (ok i am exaggerating a bit, but it's not a quiet machine). Do i care? Not at all! This is a car for going fast around a circuit. It feels purpose built and there are compromises. Having said that, it IS a luxo beast compared to my 600hp monaro.

The gearbox is suberb with virtually instant cog swaps. I am still getting a few k's on the thing before putting the boot right in, so i dont really know what it's like to drive in anger just yet... i can't wait.

Oh, this thing gets NOTICED, no driving around in anonymous mode... it's not possible - people will pull up and start talking. Everywhere you go you just see huge cheesy grins!

Anyway, so far quite happy and can't wait to get the thing out to Oran Park next week!

Here are a couple of Pics, but they don't do the car justice at all. The car looks like the titanium colour in these pics, due to harsh light.

Yes there is a bit of noise, but just adds to the aural experience if you ask me.

I agree I don't mind the clunking in mine, its a super performance machine. You don't want it to be as quiet as a Honda Accord you want a bit of gear box sound to remind you your driving a supercar.

Congrats to everyone who has now received their GT-R! It's definitely a unique car, and a blast on the road course. The wait was worth it, huh? I remember the buzz here in the USA when the car was released, so I understand this is a VERY exciting time for everyone! :(

My buddy at the wharf is reporting that the numbers of new GTR's coming in has increased from dribs and drabs to dozens in the last week or so. 15 in one day, 9 the next.

Awesome.

Saw a Black GTR driving near my place in Rozelle- Syd on wednesday night and then in the morning last week nearly crashed my van both times~!!! omg they are sexy in person.. Then on friday was in Coogee and a guy pulled up in his AUD delivered GTR and spoke to him for a bit. . . so so much better in person!! Someone give me a ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

I was down at brookvale and they had 5 cars ready for PD.

2 silver, one black, one red and one grey. Sorry for the crap pictures.

I was also chattign with one of the GTR mechanics, apparently the gearbox service is only required if the gearbox gets over a certain temp. I think he said 130deg C.

He said that they did a track day during their training and they did not reach the temps required for a service. Apparently the ECU has a VERY long memory and revels all once plugged in.

I hope the 5 new owners enjoy their awesome rides.

will post pics etc......

Awesome! sounds like you will chalk up the 2000k run in period pretty quick.

Me, I'm still doodling around only having done 500k's

:( I am the same...only 450km here...the 2000km cannot come around quick enough.

I am hanging for the first track day. I might have to take the rest of the week off too, just so I can put the KM's on it.

Geez - we were told not to worry about "running it in". I mean the damn things are run in on an engine dyno and then track tested before they are shipped so where's the logic in putting around for 2,000kms before giving it some (I've never been a fan of doing that even with rebuilt RB engines either. I think the logic is flawed myself).

My car hasn't done many km's yet (only 500odd as well) but a number of those I have done have been angry! :(

It's booked in for the 1st service for next Thursday (as I'm off to Tassie in it next Friday) so I better get some km's on it between now and then (although they didn't seem too worried if I hadn't done 2,000kms by then).

I was not actually told about any run in period when I picked the car up. I only got that from the owners manual....

that being the case...time to drive it properly, 450km is enough.

If it is good enough for Snowman then it is good enough for me. :(

Cheers
