2003 V35 Overheating?

Hi Guys

Hope someone can help me.... I've purchased a 2003 V35 coupe and have had problems with it overheating? The Thermo fans don't seem to kick in, however when i turn on the air conditioner the fans turn on but ever so slowly?

So far I've checked all the fuses, flushed the radiator and changed the radiator cap, however i can't find the relay?

Worst thing is - i don't know who can repair it? Every auto electrician i've spoken to refuses to touch it..

Can someone please help!!

have you tried Nissan dealer? They can plug your car to their consult system and tell you what's wrong...

V35 skyline are pretty much 350Z with 4 seats, most of the engine bay parts are interchangeable.

I rang Nissan last week and they told me that they wouldn't touch it as its an imported vehicle?

you really need a scan tool on it and a service manual for it.

If it's your relay somewhere in the engine bay that I think should be relatively easy to fix.

It only gets complicated when it is related to your specific climate control system.

most of the relays for that are behind the battery. they are labelled as well. that said to get at them the battery has to come out.

also (I'm assuming you are somewhat mechanical) have you tried to manually run the fans? (IE put +12v directly to to them)

no probs.

bear in mind that it is the USDM manual and should be used as a GUIDE ONLY. its close enough to help you but that it. pinning on hte plugs will be close enough and locations will be close as well.

Chris, I found a way to reach the fuse without taking out the whole battery. You just take out the whole plastic cover in front of the wind screen. Open up the rubber strip and pop out those pins (there's one near the wiper) and you can reach the Fuse box with ease.

true. checking things though requires the battery to at least be released so you can get at the relays properly.

Have the same problem with my v35 as well.. auto electrician said that the thermo fans were both buggered and replaced both of them in there.. i must admit the new fans a blowning alot stronger now... and it just cost me $1200, cept my car is still overheating!!!!!

anyone found a solution to this yet?

What symptoms is it giving telling you it's overheating ?

Don't forget the V/Z runs really hot from factory.

Perhaps it's the thermostat that's faulty.

Flush the cooling system and fill with Nissan Coolant (really good stuff apparently). Add in some Motul coolant treatment while you're at it if you'd like.

Ok now I have similar problem. 28,000km on clock.

When driven from cold it sits on half temp guage fine.

Then when I stop engine the water gurgles out the overflow tank.

Turning her back on again does not help.

Both fans seem to work but are slowish

No obvious alerts coming from car.

I did notice though that the temp guage jumped about 10 % in less than a secnd or so. I am used to the old thermo sensors where everything moves more slowly but just wondered if there could be some kind of engine eartning issue or electrical issue?

Otherwise sounds like poor water circulation ....water pump not pushing enough water about.
