Lock away your Skylines boys and girls..........

This afternoon a couple of low-lives tried to break into my GTR in broad daylight on a relatively busy street. They had pulled the weatherstrip off the passenger side door (yes, I know weatherstrips are gay) and were trying to get the door open when the alarm went off.

Luckily someone from work happened to be driving past at that moment and saw them, so they took off before any real damage was done.

The witness got a good look at them, and the car they left in. They also left an excellent set of dusty fingerprints on the inside top window glass, so hopefully they will be tracked down before too many more cars get done.

The old ute is looking good as a daily driver now.

If anyone has had a chance to look into the GPS/GSM options from the other thread, could you maybe PM me some info?

I feel very sorry for those who haven't been quite so lucky lately.........

Thats probably as close to the best outcome you could have after an attempted theft, apart from actually catching them..

I've got a GPS/GSM tracker in mine from the group buys off this forum. Using a Vodafone 365day prepaid card. I think the forum members username was gtr_z or something like that.

Just a quick update.

Spoke to the witness this morning, the culprits were two males, late teens - early twenties. One had bleached hair and was wearing a white tshirt and white trackpants, the other had a cap on and all dark clothing.

As soon as the alarm went off they bolted down the road about two blocks, and jumped in an older model dark blue sedan. It was too far away to see clearly, but she thinks it was a commodore or falcon.

AFP Forensic came out and dusted for prints, took some pics and a DNA swab this morning, but it will take some time to get the results (if any) back.

My commiserations to the poor bugger who wasn't so lucky yesterday......

I also know of a techie who can rig up an immobiliser to a sim card unit.... just dial away and disables vehicle on the spot

Looking into those at the moment, but two different installers have told me that the remote immobiliser function is illegal in OZ, probably due to the risk of causing an accident if you killed the engine if the vehicle is in heavy traffic at the time.

Will do some more research on that and post up the findings, although I realise that some people may be less concerned about the legailty of it vs securing their ride, which is fair enough.....

there are laws pertaining to anything connected to a workable telecommunications line, its a very tricky thing to get around, but if i had it i wouldnt be telling anyone.

the parts alone are less than $100, then just use prepaid or a really cheap plan...

DBL car audio does an alarm system has a sim etc.... also gps tracking, you can set perimiters eg. speed of 70kph and 2km from a set destination and you get notified if the boundaries are crossed. an emergency function (notifies 3 people (plus you) if something happens and sends them the location, tilt sensors, hidden microphone and the works. It is good, it is the alarm i will be getting soon.

The remote immobiliser is illegal, it is due to a) accidents and b) a lot of insurance companies wont cover you if it is stolen and hit the remote immobiliser and it kills the engine somewhere eg. middle of an intersection and they get wiped out.

that is why the EVO no longer has the remote immobiliser. (Think it was evo 9 that had it)

How are they starting the cars?

Oh it would be soooo worth every cent if the immobiliser caused them to get wiped out. Especially if James was there to 'help' them out of the car afterwards. GO JAMES!!!!

I represent your local SAU thug - James (DriftGTS).
