hey i know there are topics like this already but i just want to know whats the best wheels for drifting (r33 gtst).

ie. 17" by 9.5" off set??? tire size/brands front and rear sizes. dont care if i have to roll guards and shit like that. only want opinions from people that drift and know a thing or 2 about it. thanx guys

17 X 8.5 and 17X9 or 9.5 would be a good set up, I ran that size and I found that the best tyres where BRIGESTONE RE55 semi slicks up front and what ever your budjet alows on the rear ( obviously dont put semi's on the rear ) alott has to do with what sort of power your car has because you dont realy want to hit the track with 10" wide rears and not enough power to get them spinning, DRIFTTEKS are good but you could hunt around for something like a forged SSR, WORK, VOLK/RAYS, BUDDY CLUB, or some thimg like that, as you will find a fully forged wheel heaps better for drift due to how much lighter they are. I can stress enough how important the semi slicks are in the equasion though they make a bloody huge difference and you will achive mad high speed entries with F all under steer if any.

thats my 2cents anyway.

off sets and spacers varrie heaps, from memorie I ran a conservitive +32 off set which isnt the toughest looking but I had bolt on spacers and I was on a budget at the time and got my ssr's cheap of a mate.

u have to understand that question is basically the same as asking "what turbo should i run"

without added details theres really no way we can answer it.

what tyres do u want to run, whats ur budget, do u want to stretch, do u want lightweight, are u willing to roll ur guards, do u want tough fitment etc etc

ok mate..

tyres- what do people recommend?

budget- im not gonna spend 3k on drift wheels but maybe half that or 2k max (not including tyres)

stretch- if thats whats best for drift and how much should you stretch em???

light weight- if it suits my budget

roll guards- already said i would in my first post!

tough fitment- again if it suits my budget

i'll throw one in you forgot to mention nisskid

yeh i would only need to know power if i was reccomending a tyre, not wheel. as far u wanting a reccomendation on tyre, thats a whole different ball game, once again depends on ur budget. in 17" u have a few common sizes, 235/45 probably being the most common around that size, 255/45 being the next more commonish size, not a lot bigger than that around in 17's. this is important for drift as ull be going through them pretty quickly.

if u went the 235's, id be going a 9.5", bit of stretch to keep the cheaper tyres sidewalls firm, but also lets u go up to a 255 comfortably if u choose to. offset of around +35 will make them sit comfortable, obviously the lower u go the tougher it will look, but the harder it will be to fit the tyres comfortably.

i run 5zigen 17 x 9.5 +22 all round. on the front i run brigestone potenza re55 semi slicks as well and swear by them. on the back i run 235/45/17 federal 595S but they are getting quite exxy in the cost, i found after trying out so many that these tyres suit me best. its sort of trial and error as to which tyre will best suit the way you like the car to feel.

alot of the cheap tyres delam quickly and feel like you are skating when doing fast transitions

also the federals are great in the wet awesome water dispersion.

yeah 33 gtr's are a fantastic wheel, there one of the lightest rims getting around especially in the price range, like i said and the other guys GO THE RE55's on the front they are one mean semi slick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you left off where I clearly stated "in that sort of price range" they weighed and trialed heaps of wheels on the new zealand gtr drag car owned by rece mcgreggor and he found them an extremely eficiant wheel, From memorie him gtr with the hydraulic lock set up in it went low 9s and I think high 8s in the end.

yes and no, u said "especially", which meant including regardless of the price range. they are light, but not crazy light. my modenas weighed less in a 17x9.5, and my 17x9 works weighed less as well, both bought for between 1/5 and 1/3 of the price of GTR wheels.

they are a good wheel tho, def reccomend them.

verry true, agree with nisskid on that if you could dig up a cheap set of jap forged heels then do that for sure, but yeah i just meant the 33 gtr's are good on a budget.
