Buyers Beware: C J Motor

Recommended Posts

Fair enough it might be bad customer service.

However quite Leagally he idoesnt have to refund the items if there is nothing wrong with it, the only time he has to give a refund is if the product is faulty or the customer was misled by advertising...the same with any store whether it be ebay or kmart.

just to spoil the party on the grave of the OP, I'll not buy from CJ Motors again.

Jacky advertises ATI dampers on ebay, and I contacted him and bought it direct, asking if he could

express ship it (he could not, only australia post). Fair enough. I got it, and the same week asked if I

could return it, un-opened, for a credit if I paid S&H and I even said a restock fee would be ok, as

I'd suffered a huge setback and this would be a big help. After all, it was UN-OPENED so it costs him

nothing but a few emails. He lists his stock as 10, or whatever, it is a commodity, he isn't selling

Faberge eggs here.

He ignored the first contact, and in the second, just flat out refused saying, in effect, tough titties mate.

I would copy the email but it barely qualified as english.

A few emails later, after I explained that a little bit of customer service would go a long way, he

hadn't budged an inch. He spent far more time writing get lost replies than he would have

accepting the return, incrementing his stock count by 1, and refunding less S&H and a fee.

His ebay auctions, by the way, state

"Return policy not specified.

Read item description for any reference to return policy."

(there is none in the description, of course).

His personal site lists an extensive amount of legal boiler plate in equally fractured english that I can sum up as basically:

don't try to return anything for any reason, if it doesn't work & if you breathed on it, touched it, bolted it on, used it,

or in any way handled it, you've got it forever, it is your fault that it is broken. If it is perfect, you can't return it either.

And in all other situations we don't accept returns. And if you change your mind

before we ship, tough luck, and if you refuse to sign for it or bounce it, tough luck, and in the (non-existent)

case where we do accept a return -- you have to pay a 25%(!!) restock fee.

So basically he is yet another example of how sh!thouse customer service is somehow acceptable to the car

modifying community, in any other field a business would go under acting this way.

His only redeeming feature is he is cheap. Which wasn't why I went to him, the distributor was waiting for a

new shipment.. But IMO I'd rather give the 5% to a real business, not some guy with the customer service

of basil faulty, a garage load of boxes he doesn't stand behind, and an fleabay storefront.

You changed your mind about the purchase. Tough luck, he is not obligated to offer you a refund.

Taken from the Trade Practices Act:

For example, customers have a right to a refund if the previously mentioned implied warranties are not met, and the goods:

Have a fault that they could not have known about

Do not do the job that they were led to believe they would do

Do not match a sample they were shown

Are not as they were described.

Customer refunds should also be in the same "currency" they paid in. For instance, customers are not entitled to a cash refund if they paid by credit card, instead the credit card should be credited. There are circumstances, however, when business owners are entitled to refuse refunds, credits or exchanges. Under the Act refunds are not required if customers:

Change their mind about the purchase

Discover they can buy the goods at a cheaper price elsewhere

Were told of the defect before purchase.

Anyone can run a business like an ahole, never giving an inch, always assuming

the customer is wrong (his T&C make that attitude clear), and laughing once the

submit button is pressed and the money is safely in his a/c.

but to me it is a bad business. If he can find people who don't care how they

are treated, all power to him.

But I will recommend anyone sane first reads his T&C carefully

and asks themselves, with that attitude, what happens if the product is actually

found to be defective.. how likely is it he will make things good.

When I told my tuner what his reply was, their response was normal, I think: "WTF?".

moneypit, you cant demand a credit if you 'change' your mind, you bought it, there's nothing wrong with the item/s why should you get a credit?

please buy a car off (sorry to use you as an examle christian) Iron Chef, have it landed, pay for it.. then turn around and ask for a refund.. it aint going to happen buddy.

and OP don't go pointing the finger at Jackie, you can see your mechanic is in the wrong, or he just wants more money :D

Sounds like an inconvienience, but $950 odd bucks to readjust a problem on a car namely our "skylines" is a minor price to pay for a fk up if you ask me...

I just forked out an extra 6K for a damn bodykit!!!! it doesnt even make my car perform better! Just cause of all the problems i have had through Middlemen/panel beaters...but i assure you it was never their faults.

Just have to be careful when you buy and fit things to your machine....and always expect the worst in every instance, i'd be confident in saying your lucky you didnt blow your engine rather you just had a problem with the GT's...

Always good to warn people though and make sure everyone is aware of this stuff...

Edit: Yes you heard right...6 grand...EXTRA on top of the original 8K.....thats alot of cash....i coulda bought another fking GTT!

is it any wonder business go broke these days with the expectations of customers....Would you sell your car,let the guy take it then have him ring up after a week telling you his dog has gotten rabies and he needs money to cure him and doesnt want the car anymore???

I run a successful business and you know something...im not afraid to tell cock smokers when they are being smokers....I have thousands of dollars of motorbike parts here that i have ordered and not needed on jobs, and ive had a good enough face to say "well i said i wanted them when i ordered them....so i will take them, pay for them and shove em in the corner"You guys all want stuff for nothing and expect all liability to be on the trader...you got what you wanted(both of you twats) and it wasnt checked before fitment/your OWN circumstances changed.. and expected someone else to cover it......i say go inhale the big one both of you.

Am I the only person here that thinks you are talking this up way too much?

By the sounds of it the $910 included the tuning and install of some other parts as well. That doesn’t mean that this “problem” cost you that as im sure the other work they were doing wasn’t for free. You still had the car tuned and the parts installed. Get over it. Mech should have checked it and been able to identify it sooner.

I also have half a dozen cars sitting in Japan, where the customer pulled out of purchasing AFTER we bought the car at auction. Businesses go through this all the time - if I made a thread every time I got shafted by a customer, there wouldn't be any other topic on the front page of this forum.

EXACTLY!

A friend who builds trailers had a cust come in for a 20grand trailer cause his current one was stolen. It was built, bought and picked up by the customer. 3 weeks later he pops back in saying mate just found my trailer can you take this one back and give me my money back! He even sent people over to threaten him.

I can't farken believe the nerve of some people.

i agree with all of you re installation and that, but i also agree with moneypit that the only thing going for jacky and probably the only thing keeping him in business, are his semi ok prices. Apart from that he has nothing. No business sense or manners, and the personality of roadkill.

    • From what I've seen and experienced first hand with those powder extinguishers, they're good to use to break a window and escape the car, and half the time then do f**k all to stop a fire. You just need much more than 1KG worth of powder. Not to mention, half the time it's an engine bay fire, and you can't easily, and do not want to completely open the bonnet, so you're left pretending to be an American Infantry... Spray and Pray baby!   And then 100% that shit is really destructive afterwards!   Realistically, those little ones at a race track might help you keep the fire from growing and give the fire marshal / truck a chance to actually get to you with their multiple large bottles.   For a road car, these days, prepare to deboard as quickly as humanly possible, and move to safety. Allow insurance to fix replace it (unless it's like a rare classic etc, then do nearly everything possible to save it!) Keep the little extinguisher with you to help protect other things around you from burning while you stand there singing "How can we sleep while our beds are burning?"   Secondly, powder extinguishers I freaking hate for indoor use, (this isn't really relevant to a car) as you will get a powder fog around you, and it can be disorientating.   When I did fire training when at BlueScope Steel, they have (had?) their own fire brigade on site. We did all the training, and at the end we were told, "If it's an indoor fire, and you need to use a powder extinguisher, we as the fire brigade would rather you just exit the building, you're more likely to get lost in the smoke and powder fog than do much help, so just GTFO" And pretty much that was what they said for most other fires too, grab extinguisher, if it's much more than paper in a bin fire, use extinguisher to get you and others out of the building to safety...   Part of me wishes when my Skyline caught alight many moons ago, I let insurance sort it out, instead of putting the fire out... part of me now says "But I've saved a classic before it was a classic!"
    • Hi all,  I have a older model of the Greddy Front facing intake on an RB25DET NEO Head. I've bought aeroflows fuel rail and injector kit (1000cc Bosche injectors) and I'm unsure if the fitment is correct. The injector o-rings fit in the intake hole but it's not snug. I can very easily rotate the injectors even when the fuel rail is mounted. The kit also came with multiple adaptors, they dont make it any more snug and using them raises the injectors up and i cant mount the fuel rail. I hope this makes sense I've asses a few photos.    Thanks so much guys.
    • So, to run the 4g aerials to the booster, I had to get access to the rear bulkhead....bit of a mission. Hot tip, don't offer to help change the rear shocks for a mate with a v37.... Remove seat base, 2 clips that slide forward to release it the it lifts straight out Fold down rear seat (pull in from boot) The side bolster of the rear seat is not connected to the middle parts that fold. To remove unbolt at the bottom bolt then push it up off the top hook Then there is a plastic surround behind the seat back, 2 pop out clips, 2 bastard clips, some swearing at it is out Pop the rear seat latch surround off Remove door surround lower trim then side trim  Remove c pillar trim - 4 clips, pull inwards not forwards Remove metal brace - 5 bolts 1 nut Then you have got to the rear strut top...what a pain!
