i have just had doubts that the rb25de has enough power for motorkhanas, sprints, some track racing, drift.

Your not trying hard enough.. :)

The RB25DE is (in my opinion) pretty under rated! My 25 has done a fair bit over the 100,000km (couldnt tell you exactly as I didnt mark when I swapped the engine over but perhaps close to 130,000?) mark and had copped a HEAP of abuse!

With the right set of tyres it will easily spin 1st, 2nd, 3rd and with a little bit of force, 4th at drift days. Its seen the rev limiter more times than I care to admit. Its been to several track days (and on semi's even over took a stocko XR8 on road rubber through the twisties and a short straight :P ). Its seen a couple of motorkhanas as well as countless hundred km of abuse through the twisties.

Also bear in mind that its a GTS4 (so ~150kg heavier than your GTST's). So a GTST should be even more nimble and light.

I cant really stress how much it has copped! The best bit about it? Never, ever, EVER skipped a beat! Not even a missfire!

Its a daily driver too.

Soon enough I will have the option of dropping either an RB25/30DE/T or RB25DET VVL in it and you know what? I dont think I will! It is a bullet proof engine.

I admit its not the quickest thing in a straight line but you need to learn how to extract the most out of the engine. Especially in short distance point-to-point driving it was just as quick as other R32 RB20DET's with similar mods.

In an perfect world, id like to strip the attessa system, hicas and intrior and keep it as a road registered race car and buy a daily VW MkII GTi or 190E Merc.. but the work involved in that is simply eye watering. But id still keep my 25DE!

my r34 na beat a r32 rb20det on a straight highway run lol

he had fmic, exhaust, pod & 9or10psi boost.

all i had was k&n filter ;)

chris is right, best to setup suspension mods and once it sticks to the road like sh*t on carpet then you will be more confident in keeping the foot pedal down!

yep, have sorted out a r33 lsd, some low springs and new shocks, and am in the process of stripping out as much weight as i can

then I will probably get a full exhaust, ecu and tune to hopefully get the 120-130kw which most people are getting with simple mods on the rb25de.

hopefully it will be enough for now!

120-130kw on a n/a...probably be harder for me being a auto only got around 101kw atm..looking at getting a cai done and hopefully a chip n tune but thats pretty expensive plus im in need of a 100k service...damn i need money

mine has stock suspension so thts maybe why if i dump it in first it dies withing a matter of seconds

and r33 gtst diff my diff gears are really tall

my car has taken alot of abuse over the past 4 months and hasnt skipped a beat jsut my iac valve needs cleaning

hopfully its alot different with coilovers

reaced an r33 gtst beat him by a car lenght

raced a 32 gtst he sjut pulled on me when i went to third gear sitting on 110 (bogged down a bit)

duno think my engine could do with a freshen up cams ported head and intake and a power fc

what clutch are you running chris?

I like this :)

Only girls and posers drive supras.

The diff with CAI and cat bick will be minimal, but responce should be better. Depending on the side of the cat back you may gain a little more power up top but sacrive responce down below. Very minimal gains though

Hey mate,

I'm drifting my RB25DE R32. Have had it dyno'd with a Blitz Pod and HKS Priest Catback, making 115rwkw. Pretty happy with that, no major mods and it's the non-VCT motor too.

First drift day I went to was Oran Park on Australia Day and I met Cris there in the silver R32 with RB25DE. Gave me a few tips and by the end of the day I was linking the circuit.

Then on Sunday (8th March) just went to a Skidpan day held by ProjectD, and it was a GREAT day. Definitely improving my skills. Loving the NA, I plan to drift a lot more with this car NA down the track.

Make sure to hit the HQ button for better viewing.

Well in the first half of the day, you didn't have to for the 'slower' layout, but you did have to for the slalom or 'manji' course at the other end, and they were running simultaneously so I decided to wear it most of the time. And it was compulsary for the faster layout in the afternoon anyway. Doesn't bother me that much though, it is annoying and a bit hot sometimes but yeah you forget about it when you're drifting cos it's just so much fun!

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
