My S2 'box had the exact same symptom of not being able to hold reverse; I had to get a new solenoid rack which included a new 'pressure control valve', and that fixed all those not holding gear/slipping/light coming on/limp mode issues.

hey, any update on the auto rebuild? I need to get the shift kit done and called rvo. They really seemed to know what they were talking about. They mentioned that they had a problem just recently with a stagea, i presume it was yours. Let them know my box was "b" type and they said as long as the auto wasn't tired it should be fine. I've only done 70k and my auto is not slipping yet.

was yours slipping at all in any gears before you got the kit done?

only started to slip, i think my gearbox showed them a 'fault' with the shift kits, after installing it in mine, and finding out the gears a slipping, gearbox is basically no good after that, only a matter of time clutch packs are gone,.....

giving them a ring tomorrow, hopfully can get it in next week :/

you can go down there talk with them for hours, top blokes.

but yeah kevin, be prepared for your gearbox to heatup and struggle a bit later on or even slip bad like mine, as they might explain to you.

cause of all that extra pressure running throught the box shit happens. say boosting a stock turbo from 8psi up to 16psi, see how long that lasts .... :)

but yeah have a chat with them, they'll point you in the right direction

Goodluck with getting the box rebuilt TJ.. hopefully it doesn't take as long as mine did to get parts ect.. finally get mine back tonight.. cant wait to drive it with a freshly rebuilt, shift kitted transmission in it ;)

hm. . . .

another box . . . . .go manual . . .. damn this is a hard decision to make.

im gonna talk with them today now that i got the day off, damn rain !

get some $$ idea's and cost price's then sit on it for a week or 2 to work it out.

cause manual will change the whole feel of the car. would i need to find a ECU for the manual ?

No they will just disconnect the auto ecu, then throw it out the window on the way home,go manual you wont regret it!

how long yours been in the shop Jay ?

im hoping to get mine back at the end of the month, need it for a trip.

these guys did my stage 1 shift kit in one day ...

My car was off the road for around 2 months.. had to wait for a mate to remove the transmission, then wait for about a month for the transmission to be rebuilt (wait for parts ect) then another week for my mate to put the trans back in.. finally got the car back Friday and feels really nice to drive with the shift kit in it.. has abit of a kick into gears but not to solid that it snaps my kids necks lol

damn 2months ? f**king hell.

dopped mine off at 5pm today, ask him to have it done by end of the month... his reply ...

i should have it back by friday at the latest ..... he's gonna pull it out and pull it apart and clean it tomorrow.

then Ed the boss is gonna start chucking shit in there and rebuilding it... then testing and all that... so friday sounds bloody good to me :verymad:

bring it home, park it back in the garrage haha

Mate thats great news!! ive been waiting to see how it was going to go. How does it feel with normal slower driving?

How much power did they say it would safely hold?

And when you say $1330, is that everything drive in drive out INCLUDING the valvebody upgrade or without? if not how much would it be all up at rvo. Am very keen to get it done before i get serious with power. currently have 186kw...

sounds like a good deal.. i already have a shiftkit ,will see them for a service

oh yeah Valve body got done 3weeks before, at $385

but then they reconditioned it to fit this application.

they said it should safely hole 300-400kw's through the box.

they quoted me with Valve body and service $1800 but i got the valve body done and the service done, then gearbox went shit and paid the rest $1330 later ... if you know what i mean.

as for slow driving, like granny, which is what im doing to parts wear in. and will just rev it out alittle bit more, mine used to change at 2,500rpm just on boost, but now it will hold till 3,000rpm mark.

and its not rough on gear change either. even when booting it and hitting the rev limiter 6,700rpm and just slides into gear real smooth. Dave has a great way of explaining things like all the in's and outs.

im sure he will be more then happy to answer any questions. and they are very quick too, only reason mine was taking so long, was saving the money to get it done, then when i chuck the car in last monday, one of there hoist's broke down and set them back. but once my gearbox was out, it was stripped and cleaned. next day rebuilt, installed and test run ready to pick up. so really its and overnight job :D. there getting another hoist ASAP so no need to worry about that.

Give them a call man, you wont be dissapointed.

P.S ryan they also do the band tightening on the service also

    • Solid update, got all the downforces now.  You going to be running aus time attack again? love the jacking solution, spend the dollars on what makes it go fast is best way.
    • Back in January, I noticed my car felt noticeably weak. I had the injectors cleaned, which seemed to solve the problem -- until now. Recently, the car suddenly lost power again while driving. Suspecting the injectors, I brought it to the mechanic. He recommended replacing them entirely, saying the current ones were getting unreliable and fiddly to work with. I could not find a direct replacement for my current injectors. The closest match I found were 440cc injectors. This led me to look into the possibility of upgrading -- and of course, that would mean remapping the ECU. From my research I found: The OEM Part numbers are 16600-72L20 and 16600-72L21 Both the RB20DE and RB20DET use the same 270cc injectors. There are much better options out there over the old OEM injectors. Nistune could be a viable tuning option. While the RB20DE isn’t explicitly listed on their site, the ECU is essentially the same as the GTS-T version - just with a different map. The ECU code on mine is listed as supported. One concern is finding a tuner who works with Nistune. Aftermarket ECU like Haltech and Link, but this would be the most expensive choice (and possibly overkill for a mostly stock RB20DE) I admit that I am very new to the tuning scene and would appreciate any insight or recommendations regarding this.   These are some SAU links where I got some of my information from for reference: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/380324-rb20de-injectors/ https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/477396-factory-270cc-injectors/
    • The inspectors are not forensic by any means but if you forge your documents and/or badgings on vehicle parts and are found out, the consequences are just far bigger than if you just run illegal parts. And their job quite literally is to cross reference what parts you got installed and what your papers say you got. Something as silly as your suspension being 1mm too low will fail you. Nonetheless I asked if someone knew the damn pipe and I certainly did not ask for smartassery or underhanded comments, no idea why you need to be told this. Great way to waste both our time.
    • As useful as you explaining what forgery is... But then again, I wasn't aware your inspectors were also forensic experts and inspect nameplates on each component to confirm everything is original. They must inspect roughly 3 cars a year at that rate. You're right though, my comment doesn't help you in anyway, so I'll go talk to my wall now. Cheers.
    • Say that to the guy that is going to fail your inspection or tow your car for illegal exhaust modifications. If you have anything else useful to say, please go tell your wall.
