Just curious to hear who everyone uses?

I want to change to an agreed value on my car insurance so I'm going to go and get some quotes. Currently with Shannons and may stay there but I haven't looked in a while so want to see what's available.

I called Shannons for some info the other day and the guy on the phone really shitted me off. Couldn't even give me a proper quote on how much it'd cost to up my insurance too busy trying to give his un asked for opinion that if my car isn't in the top percentage of GTRs quality wise in Australia they won't raise it. Hmm if you read this buddy, kindly shove your opinion up your ass :D

I'm with Shannons. I'm pretty happy with it. One of the SAU member in WA works for Shannons, I can't remember his user name, nor whether he still works there, it's been a while. I called him up and got a comprehensive insurance instantly with a phone call, and no vehicle check.

Just Cars premium is usually the highest.

Young and Cool was the cheapest requires your car to have alarm with non-colour coded wiring... you are not covered for theft. Toyota MR2 factory alarm had colour coded wiring, hence I couldn't insure with them. They also give you 10% discount if you do a Murcott defensive drive training.

GTR is insured with Shannons. Corolla is insured with Toyota. Rav4 is insured with GIO, packaged with home & content insurance... more paperwork!

yes I know who you mean.. but I won't mention his name cos he doesn't do enquiries through SAU anymore..

With Shannons you have to go see them in person. That's what I did with my car, and I got the agreed value that I wanted.

Kat, I actually had them first look at mine at the Wheels event, all I did was wander over to the Shannons sponsor tent and started talking to one of the guys there, he just said "take me to it and I'll look at it now",and that's how I got it, so maybe you could try that?

That way they get to look at the car when it's shiny clean too

im with justcar pretty good i got full price an all the mods i did with my car and they even increased the market value of my car after getting the mods so i was pretty happy with that and they were the cheapest i found

try LSV (Lumley Special Vehicles) 133578

or Torque

I am with LSV, agreed value, cheapest I could find, great customer service.

My current policy is with LSV but they have doubled my excess to $1k (must be the market, ive made no claims) and i found out their agreed value means nothing just maximum amount they will pay, its just a reference to what clause where hey will assess the value and then pay what they want!

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
    • Try fabricating something like this and install it under the pedals? Not sure if it's legal or not....
    • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
